[Bug 300301] [NEW] Keyboard quits working in kubuntu

2008-11-20 Thread Steve Brenneis
Public bug reported:

Installed kubuntu 8.10 on my Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop. Laptop
originally came from Dell with Ubuntu 6.x installed.

Keyboard intermittently stops working. Mouse (touchpad) continues to
work. If I log out, the keyboard works in KDM and I can log back in and
everything is fine.

Very random. Sometimes doesn't happen for days at a time, then it
happens two or three times in 30 minutes. No problems with keyboard in
Ubuntu.

[Bug 475936] Re: race condition between encrypted device creation and mountall probing with random-encrypted devices (swap, tmp)

2010-03-16 Thread Steve Brenneis
I am having the same issue after applying the last round of updates in
synaptic. Mine seems related to the CDROM drive. If it is closed during
boot, with or without a CD in it, I get the hang more often. If there is
a CD in the drive, the system always hangs on startup.
