FYI, the browser can be defined in the preferences (Edit menu ->

I will change the default to x-www-browser in my next upload (to Debian

already have a ~/.grisbirc.

Thanks for your remark.

This is not really a bug. grisbi used to "recommend" latex-ucs and
tetex-extra, making it install with package managers' default settings.
It has been a suggestion since version 0.5.9-1, and the version shipped
with Karmic will no longer pull texlive when installing grisbi (with
default settings).

You can still install grisbi without all latex stuff anyway, even with
Jaunty. I am not aware of a way to do this with apt-get, but with
aptitude or synaptic user interfaces, you can un-select all tex stuff
and keep only grisbi before starting download. Or alternatively, you can
disable automatic installation of recommendations. This is something you
should do in general if you always want to have the minimum stuff
installed on your system.

Hope that helps,

I can also observe the bug in Debian, but the X server doesn't
"completely crash". The graphical interface is indeed mostly
unresponsive, but the Gnome monitoring applets still work and everything
goes back to normal after killing grisbi (e.g. from a console via
Crtl-Alt-F1).

I had already experienced a similar bug once, but were unable to
reproduce it with such predictable way.

texlive is merely a suggestion of grisbi. You are not forced to install

At best, this is a bug in texlive package.

[Bug 519199] [NEW] Sync ocaml 3.11.2-1 (main) from Debian sid (main)

2010-02-09 Thread Stéphane Glondu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ocaml

Please sync ocaml 3.11.2-1 (main) from Debian sid (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
The Ubuntu patch has been merged upstream.

The transition to the new upstream version of OCaml (3.11.2) has
started in Debian. I recommend doing it at the same time in Ubuntu,
instead of automatically importing when everything is in testing
(which will most likely cause headaches because of the mix of packages
sourcefully uploaded and binNMU'ed).

Progress of this transition can be monitored at the following
addresses:

http://bentobako.org/ubuntu-ocaml-status/transition_monitor/ocaml_transition_monitor.html
http://bentobako.org/ubuntu-ocaml-status/transition_monitor/ports_transition_monitor.html

I (or David, maybe) will submit more bug reports as the transition goes.

Changelog entries since current lucid version 3.11.1-4ubuntu1:

ocaml (3.11.2-1) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Stephane Glondu ]
  * New upstream release
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.8.4 (no changes)

  [ Mehdi Dogguy ]
  * camlp4-extra:
- Add cma files back into the package (Requested by users).
- Don't install a manpage for camlp4boot (which is not installed).
  * debian/rules:
- Do not compute dependencies for camlp4-extra
  * debian/control:
- Make camlp4-extra depend on ocaml-base-nox

  [ Ralf Treinen ]
  * debian/control.in: bump dependency of ocaml-mode on emacs22 to emacs23.

The transition won't probably be finished by next week in Debian, but
OCaml 3.11.2 will most likely be part of Squeeze. This transition should
be uneventful and can be handled quite quickly if buildds/uploaders keep
up. You can see the progress in Debian at:

[Bug 527627] Re: [OCaml 3.11.2 transition][round 4/6] Please rebuild packages involved in OCaml transition (universe)

2010-02-25 Thread Stéphane Glondu
There was a bug in the generation of dependencies of gmetadom [1], which
has been fixed in 0.2.6-5. Sync has been requested [2], but not yet
performed. The bug made gmetadom not appear in the monitoring page.
lablgtkmathview needs to be rebuilt after gmetadom.

Note:this is a new upstream (minor) release. Most changes are in
packaging (upstream as well as debian). Dependencies changed so that why
now depends on frama-c (and not the other way around, as it was
previously). It has been built successfully on all architectures in
Debian, and is in testing. I hereby request a feature freeze exception.

2010-02-22 Thread Stéphane Glondu
Then, I hereby request a freeze exception for jocaml.

This new upstream version is merely a port to the new version of ocaml.
The current version doesn't work with OCaml 3.11.2. It has been built
successfully on all architectures on Debian (sid) [1].

2010-02-22 Thread Stéphane Glondu
This is taking much more time than I was expecting. This round started
one week ago, and there are rebuilds still not scheduled. I know Ubuntu
people are busy with preparing the next release, but there are currently
102 packages related to this transition that are not installable, so I
guess having this transition completed should also have some priority. I
already volunteered to give instructions to perform this transition
smoothly... I don't know what more I can do, not being an Ubuntu
developer.

FYI, the progress of this transition can be seen on:

http://bentobako.org/ubuntu-ocaml-status/transition_monitor/ocaml_transition_monitor.html
http://bentobako.org/ubuntu-ocaml-status/transition_monitor/ports_transition_monitor.html

I am waiting for at least findlib (which has a lot of reverse
dependencies) to be recompiled before proceeding with next rounds.

[Bug 257524] Re: ocamlnet library compiled without SHM support

2010-04-09 Thread Stéphane Glondu
It seems that the package has been built in an environment lacking
/dev/shm, and therefore the test program failed, hence the value of
Netsys.have_posix_shm.

AFAICT, this is an issue in Ubuntu building infrastructure, not in the
package itself. I could make the package building fail if /dev/shm is
not mounted... but it would then always fail in Ubuntu build farms... is
that what we want?

[Bug 533753] Re: [OCaml 3.11.2 transition][round 6/6] Please sync packages involved in OCaml transition from Debian (sid) to lucid (universe)

2010-03-07 Thread Stéphane Glondu
I hereby request a freeze exception for matita. It is a new (quite
different) upstream, so there is a pretty big diff. However, this new
release supports gtksourceview2 (the previous one uses the obsolete
gtksourceview1 [1], which has been removed from Debian [2]). It has been
successfully been built on all architectures in Debian, and migrated to
testing [3].

I believe the bug fixed by the Ubuntu-specific patch has been fixed in
Debian as well [4].

2010-03-07 Thread Stéphane Glondu
I hereby request a freeze exception for why. Although there are many
changes, in upstream and the Debian packaging, it fixes many bugs,

2010-03-07 Thread Stéphane Glondu
I've just added ocaml-batteries (0.20090405+beta1-5 -> 1.1.0-1).

The version currently in lucid was a beta release, and the upstream
project changed quite a bit since then. That's why this version has been
removed from squeeze [1]. There has been a new upstream release since
them, that has been uploaded to sid yesterday. Currently, it has been
built on all architectures that exist in Ubuntu [2].

I think that the package should be either synced or removed from Lucid
before the beta1 freeze.

2010-03-05 Thread Stéphane Glondu
I've just added ssreflect (1.2+dfsg-3). I didn't put it the first time
because it depends on coq, which fails to build on armel. I don't have
time to investigate this failure right now, and I'd rather see ssreflect
recompiled so that it is installable on most architectures in Lucid.

2010-03-05 Thread Stéphane Glondu
I've just added ocamlgraph. A newer version is needed for frama-c. The
current version in Lucid is 1.2+debian-1build2 whereas it is
1.3+debian-1 in Debian (sorry for not noticing that earlier). FWIW, it
has been compiled successfully on all architectures in Debian, and
migrated to testing.

[Bug 155059] Re: Description does not contain the word money

2009-08-24 Thread Stéphane Glondu
KMyMoney's description doesn't contain "money" in its description
either, except in its name and in a reference to MS-Money... and I
cannott find a proper description for grisbi where "money" would fit.
Does anyone has a suggestion?

Both sound too strange to me.

What about:

"
Grisbi is a personal accounting program. Grisbi can handle multiple
accounts, currencies and users. It helps you manage your money using
third party, expenditure and receipt categories, as well as budgetary
lines, financial years, and other informations that makes it adapted
for both personal and associative accounting.

Indeed, that seems to be the "modern" way.

Currently, in my karmic cowbuilder chroot, with debtags installed:

 * "aptitude search money" returns only kmymoney
 * "apt-get search" doesn't exist
 * "apt-cache search money" returns what is reported in the initial
   bugreport
 * "aptitude search '?tag(money)'" returns nothing
 * "aptitude search '?tag(finance)'" returns a lot of things, including
   gnucash, kmymoney and grisbi

[Bug 414901] Re: [OCaml 3.11.1 transition] Please reschedule build on ia64

2009-08-27 Thread Stéphane Glondu
Transition is almost complete on Ubuntu ports:

http://bentobako.org/ubuntu-ocaml-
status/transition_monitor/ports_transition_monitor.html

Most issues were with ia64, but there remains a few bad binary packages
on other architectures. AFAICT, they don't correspond to build failures,
but binary NMUs should fix them. Shall I rename this bug and add the
relevant packages here when all scheduled ia64 builds are done?

[Bug 1029454] Re: cselim tree optimizer generates incorrect code

2012-07-30 Thread Stéphane Glondu
I've tried various historic versions of the gcc-4.6 package in a clean
precise chroot.

The first faulty version appears to be 4.6.0-7ubuntu1. The previous
version, 4.6.0-6ubuntu3, generates correct code.

Moreover, the last version (4.6.3-1ubuntu5) with all Linaro patches out
generates correct code.

[Bug 1045719] [NEW] Display port monitor detected, but no signal sent

2012-09-04 Thread Stéphane Glondu
Public bug reported:

I have two monitors: one connected via VGA, and one connected via
DisplayPort. When the X server starts, there is a signal on both
monitors. But when the monitor on DisplayPort is switched off, then back
on, the monitor no longer detects signal. However, the monitor is
detected: dm and GNOME react to the new monitor and it appears in xrandr
output.

The signal comes back after restarting the X server. This makes me think
it is a software problem, or at least it could be solved in software.

[Bug 1029454] [NEW] cselim tree optimizer generates incorrect code

2012-07-26 Thread Stéphane Glondu
Public bug reported:

I think gcc (4.6.3-1ubuntu5, amd64) generates incorrect code with the
attached test case.

The expected output is "m = 8241071186". However, when compiled with
"-O3", it outputs "m = 1". Looking further, it seems that the following
lines:

   *m = 1UL;
  ularith_div_2ul_ul_ul_r (m, 0UL, 1UL, s);

are being swapped in the assembly output.

The output is correct when compiled with "-O2" or with "-O3 -fno-tree-
cselim".

On Debian (version 4.6.3-1), the output is always correct. I have
reports that the output is correct with upstream gcc compiled on Ubuntu,
so this behaviour looks Ubuntu-specific.
