This is still occuring as of hardy. DRI support needs to be implemented,
person in charge of that support no longer able to contact.

I found the author of the xorg sis driver at
http://www.winischhofer.net/ and found that the version that Ubuntu
Gutsy uses is too old. perhaps an update would fix this problem!
