Re: [Bug 84867] Re: gnome-chess does not show fonts using xorg but does using XWin32
Hi Adam, I now have Intrepid installed. I just tested gnome-chess and the fonts looked OK. Thanks. On Wed, 2008-11-05 at 19:22 +, Adam Niedling wrote: > What version of Ubuntu are you using? [Bug 388486] [NEW] Problems with autoload images
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Hi, When enabling "Preferences->Mail Preferences->HTML->Always load images from the Internet" or "Preferences->Mail Preferences->HTML->Load images in messages from contacts" sometimes the HTTP image download fails. I'm afraid I can't be more specific than this, sometimes OK, sometimes it fails. This is not a real problem, the problem is that once the image load has failed Evolution will no longer download new mails. This happens on Ubuntu 9.04 and Debian Lenny, using IMAP and POP3. Please let me know how to give you more information. [Bug 64419] Wrong file permissions
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cups-pdf Hi, I just installed cups-pdf in dapper and it didn't work. After messing around for a while I found that I had to "chmod ug+s /usr/lib/cups/backend/cups-pdf" to get it working. I know that this is a security issue, but there is a note in the cups- pdf documentation that says that cups-pdf root access. The installer should be updated, or the root requirement removed. [Bug 64419] Re: Wrong file permissions
The only cups-pdf 2.4.2-1 deb archive I could find was on debian unstable, this depends on an updated libc6 so I didn't install it. I checked the changelog and it looks like the real change from my point of view is that the backend permissions are set as I did by hand. -- Wrong file permissions https://launchpad.net/bugs/64419 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2066] Re: Unable to load any usable fontset
I can confirm this behaviour. I modified /etc/environment to LANG="C", LANGUAGE="C", and things came back to life. I then set it to LANG="en_GB" and LANGUAGE="en_GB" and it still worked. Now with the default of LANG="en_GB.UTF-8" and LANGUAGE="en_GB:en" then I get the font problems. Definitely looks like a locale problem. -- Unable to load any usable fontset https://launchpad.net/bugs/2066 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2066] Re: Unable to load any usable fontset
Worked for me. I checked the contents of the ~/.gnome2/share/fonts/fonts.dir file and it has a single line consisting of a single 0 in it. -- Unable to load any usable fontset https://launchpad.net/bugs/2066 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2066] Re: Unable to load any usable fontset
Ooops. Just checked again. I was using an X-Win session on a remote box, not at the console. I have just checked on the console and it failed. Something to do with XOrg? -- Unable to load any usable fontset https://launchpad.net/bugs/2066 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2066] Re: Unable to load any usable fontset
OK. My results. 1.- When I logout/login then ~/.gnome2/share/fonts/fonts.dir is regenerated and contains "0" as before. Behaviour is as before. 2.- xset fp rehash cures the xdvi problem. -- Unable to load any usable fontset https://launchpad.net/bugs/2066 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 84867] gnome-chess does not show fonts using xorg but does using XWin32
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-chess Hi, Start a gnome session at the server console, open gnome-chess, menus are all "-", Black and White are readable but nothing else is! Do the same connecting remotely using XWin32 and everything works OK. There are other applications that do the same (pptpconfig and others I can't remember now). Set LANG="C" and LANGUAGE="C" in /etc/environment, reboot and it works correctly on the console session, set it back to LANG="en_GB.UTF-8" and LANGUAGE="en_GB:en" and it fails. HTH.
