[Bug 284007] [NEW] Desktop freezes when pressing stop button on second X screen
Public bug reported: I'm new to Ubuntu with version 8.04. I'm running it on a Sumsung Q70 laptop with "T7300" Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I've used EnvyNGto set up the NVidia control panels and used that (after granting perms on /etc/X11) to create two separate X screens such that the panels along the top and bottom of the screen stretch neatly to the corner without being cut off. This is not a twinview configuration as such. The problem I have is highly reproducable, I can turn the laptop on and press the big red off button in the top right corner of the second monitor (chonlogically second and external, numbered X screen 1). As soon as I press the red button on this screen both desktops freeze. The conditions in the freeze are that the mouse with work and the display does not change, but no buttons or menus will operate. Nothing can be resized or moved. Pressing ctrl, alt and backspace together does cause X to shutdown. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Desktop freezes when pressing stop button on second X screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284007 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 216221] Re: Samsung Q70 - error while modprobing video, also can't adjust backlight
As a noob, I don't know what "modprobe" is but I have a Q70 running Ubuntu 8.04 - fully patched - with Linux kernel 2.6.24-21 generic. I'm willing to answer questions if required in order to help get this resolved - its incredibly irritating! Something I did try and can report is an error from the script on bug 248906: Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: Method "GetBrightness" with signature "" on interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.LaptopPanel" doesn't exist -- Samsung Q70 - error while modprobing video, also can't adjust backlight https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216221 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 213594] Re: iwl3945 fill logs with: RX non-WEP frame, but expected encryption
I'm observing this with Hardy Heron using a Net Gear "WPN802 v2" and a Samsung Q70 laptop. [Bug 195442] Re: Umbrello: Exporting diagrams as pictures fails with: can not create directory
Sorry, my system is fully patched but Unbrello still uses KDE 4.0.3. How would a novice Hardy user normally come to be using KDE 4.2? [Bug 195442] Re: Umbrello: Exporting diagrams as pictures fails with: can not create directory
I've upgraded to Intrepid and Umbrello now reports the following version information: Umbrello UML Modeller Version 2.1.4 Using KDE 4.1.4 (KDE 4.1.4) Exporting individual diagrams and all diagrams works without error. Since I've only the one system and its used commercially every day I'm a little nervous upgrading any higher than the default 8.10 in order to regression test under 4.2. -- Umbrello: Exporting diagrams as pictures fails with: can not create directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195442 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdesdk in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
