[Bug 1793437] Re: apt installation on ubuntu 18.04 works only with 'y' and not with 'Y'.
I've edited the question. Thanks @juliank for the comment. It was possibly a white space character there! ** Description changed: - OS : Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Package version : 2.6.1-0~201808202208~ubuntu18.04.1 + + What I did : I went to the URL + https://launchpad.net/~rednotebook/+archive/ubuntu/stable and copied the + line `sudo apt-get install rednotebook` by triple clicking on any one + letter. This takes the new-line characters(2 in this case) with the line + and so when I put this command on my terminal, the first new-line + character works as the Enter key, but the second new line character goes + with 'y' or 'Y' when asked for permission. As \nY is not same as Y, it + aborts. `After this operation, 2,160 kB of additional disk space will be used. Do you want to continue? [Y/n] Y Abort.` Expected : The setup should continue. - Happened : The setup aborts. + Happened : The setup aborts due to a possible extra new-line character. - Description : When apt installation is done using the command `sudo apt- - get install rednotebook` (after adding the repositories), installation - aborts for 'Y' as input on `Do you want to continue? [Y/n]`. + Can we ignore the new-line characters which come with prompt response to + get user's correct opinion on Y/n? ** Summary changed: - apt installation on ubuntu 18.04 works only with 'y' and not with 'Y'. + apt-get installation prompt on ubuntu 18.04 does not work -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1793437 Title: apt-get installation prompt on ubuntu 18.04 does not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1793437/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
