[Bug 503642] [NEW] pa_strerror not available in libpulse-simple.so
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio I am developing an aplication using the simple API that PulseAudio provides. When developing an application (which has shared libraries) that uses pulseaudio, libpulse-simple.so is the right library to use. libpulse-simple must be specified when linking. If I do not do it, these warnings come out: warning: symbol pa_simple_new used by debian/libestools1.2/usr/lib/libestbase.so.1.2.96 found in none of the libraries. warning: symbol pa_simple_free used by debian/libestools1.2/usr/lib/libestbase.so.1.2.96 found in none of the libraries. warning: symbol pa_simple_write used by debian/libestools1.2/usr/lib/libestbase.so.1.2.96 found in none of the libraries. warning: symbol pa_simple_read used by debian/libestools1.2/usr/lib/libestbase.so.1.2.96 found in none of the libraries. warning: symbol pa_simple_drain used by debian/libestools1.2/usr/lib/libestbase.so.1.2.96 found in none of the libraries. If I specify libpulse-simple to be linked, the warnings disappear (as expected) but one warning remains: warning: symbol pa_strerror used by debian/libestools1.2/usr/lib/libestbase.so.1.2.96 found in none of the libraries. If I am not mistaken, this means that pa_strerror is not specified in libpulse-simple.so, and this means that pa_strerror will not be available in my application. However, in the pacat-simple.c example available here: http://0pointer.de/lennart/projects/pulseaudio/doxygen/pacat-simple_8c-example.html#a5 pa_strerror is used with the simple API, therefore I believe it should be included in libpulse-simple.so ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 ArecordDevices: List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: STAC92xx Analog [STAC92xx Analog] Subdevices: 2/2 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: sergio 3427 F pulseaudio Card0.Amixer.info: Card hw:0 'Intel'/'HDA Intel at 0xf6ffc000 irq 21' Mixer name : 'SigmaTel STAC9205' Components : 'HDA:838476a0,102801f9,00100204 HDA:14f12c06,14f1000f,0010' Controls : 25 Simple ctrls : 16 Date: Wed Jan 6 01:52:01 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia wl Package: libpulse0 1:0.9.19-0ubuntu4 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=ca_ES.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, user) LANG=ca_ES.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-16.53-generic SourcePackage: pulseaudio Uname: Linux 2.6.31-16-generic i686 ** Affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- pa_strerror not available in libpulse-simple.so https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/503642 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1637567] Re: Festival 2.4 Regression
As far as I can remember the HTS voice in `festvox-us-slt-hts` is the same from nitech. If you want to convert any nitech voice from the old format to the new, you can do it in the same way that it is done within the festvox-us-slt- hts package. So far no one has bothered to do it, probably because no one has the time, but it should work. To do the conversion, you should first follow the debian/rules file, that uses a python script to create the .htsvoice file, and second applying similar patches to the ones available in debian/patches, to fix the festvox/* files accordingly. I think it is a much better solution to migrate the old voices to the new system, if possible, than to patch the system and maintain a fork of an already old and not very well maintained piece of software, but do as you please. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1637567 Title: Festival 2.4 Regression To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/festival/+bug/1637567/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 692996] Re: No /etc/init.d script
And this "festival --server" is a very unsafe solution due to the design of festival server mode. Any other local user will only need to use the command: > telnet localhost 1314 > (system "ls") Basically you are opening a user shell to anyone with access to localhost. This: - Gives access to your shell to any other local user (which is dangerous if there are other users in your computer) - Gives access to your shell to any malicious website you visit that uses a DNS rebinding attack (dangerous, unless you don't visit websites or you disable javascript).See https://security.stackexchange.com/questions/147175/is-http-to- localhost-safe We need a better alternative to this "festival --server" solution. Festival was designed with speech synthesis research purposes in mind, not as a user robust TTS system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/692996 Title: No /etc/init.d script To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/festival/+bug/692996/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1415400] Re: Upgrade to Festival 2.4
Hi, I have been helping to package Festival and Speech tools in Debian for a while so I may be able to help here too :-). Some patches will be dropped as they have been merged upstream (speech tools documentation improvements for instance) and others will need some adaptation. Also some voices' packages (festvox-*) may need testing/changes, because festival-2.4 includes a newer version of the HTS engine that breaks (again, sigh) backward compatibility. Many people use HTS voices and fetch them from Internet as they are not packaged yet [1]. It is not as straightforward as I'd like to. I can prepare a package but some reverse dependencies will need testing. [Bug 884678] Re: Drag & Drop on xinerama multimonitor - offset problem
In my case I just wanted to move 5 or 6 icons from Left screen to the Right Screen. I could finally move them with a bit of luck: 1. Right click on the desktop and use the "Keep aligned" option. 2. Select the icon on the left screen by clicking not in the middle of the icon but as on the left as possible. 3. Move it to the right as much as possible, so as it gets in the middle of both screens (as much as possible). 4. Enlarge the icon (Right click option) 5. Try to move it to the right, if you are lucky (I had to try for 20-30 seconds) the icon will align on the first column of the right screen. Tips and limitations: Try using a long icon name. Don't move again the icon, it will go back to the left screen. [Bug 831866] [NEW] festival-te and festvox-te-nsk have wrong dependencies
Public bug reported: Currently festival-te depends on festival and on festvox-te-nsk. Currently festvox-te-nsk recommends festival-te. [Bug 424648] Re: "Error: ssh program unexpectedly exited" when trying to browse files on router
I think I know how to solve the problem: (at least it works for me) In my case it was related to some output when "running interactively". Open a terminal and do: ssh usern...@server /bin/true (or maybe) ssh usern...@server /usr/bin/true If you get any output, then you probably need to write at the beginning of the server's ~/.bashrc: # If not running interactively, don't do anything [ -z "$PS1" ] && return Try "ssh usern...@server /bin/true" again. If there is no output, try connecting through nautilus. [Bug 630101] [NEW] Duplicate Brasero entry in Open With dialog
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: brasero When choosing "Open With another application" in any File, the "Open with" dialog pops showing two entries for Brasero. I believe this is caused by the files brasero.desktop and brasero-copy- medium.desktop available in /usr/share/applications provided by brasero. I would expect to see only one Brasero entry in "Open With dialog", that's why I believe this is a bug.
