After running apt-get update && apt-get upgrade, this failed to restart. I
could not uninstall it due to the error in the init script. I set the script

[Bug 202165] Re: Greasemonkey installer is broken. Package needs to be updated with firefox dependancies.

2008-03-17 Thread Scott Lockwood
it's a fresh install of Hardy, so it's all 'clean install'. My Gutsy
machines all work fine, it's only Hardy that has the issue for me. Also,
the package name (see Caroline's entry above) is different - it's
'firefox-greasemonkey' not 'greasemonkey' according to apt-cache:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ apt-cache search greasemonkey
epiphany-extensions - Extensions for Epiphany web browser

with user scripts

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  firefox-greasemonkey: Depends: firefox (< 2.1) but 3.0~b3+nobinonly-0ubuntu4
is to be installed
E: Broken packages

4)
I expected greasemonkey to be installed in firefox-2 since it's not possible to
install it in firefox 3.

5)
It didn't work. It's not targeting the correct package. Manual install also
fails.

Additionally, launchpad will not accept 'firefox-greasemonkey' as a
package name, which is kind of annoying since it's a package out of your
own repo...

[Bug 111620] Remote Root Exploits: multiple vulnerabilities

2007-05-01 Thread Scott Lockwood
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wordpress

NOTE: please fix dapper as well!

Package: wordpress
Vulnerability : several
Debian-specific: no
CVE Id(s) : CVE-2007-1622 CVE-2007-1893 CVE-2007-1894 CVE-2007-1897

CVE-2007-1622
Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in wp-admin/vars.php in
WordPress before 2.0.10 RC2, and before 2.1.3 RC2 in the 2.1 series,
allows remote authenticated users with theme privileges to inject
arbitrary web script or HTML via the PATH_INFO in the administration
interface, related to loose regular expression processing of PHP_SELF.

CVE-2007-1893
WordPress 2.1.2, and probably earlier, allows remote authenticated
users with the contributor role to bypass intended access restrictions
and invoke the publish_posts functionality, which can be used to
"publish a previously saved post."

CVE-2007-1894
Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in
wp-includes/general-template.php in WordPress before 20070309 allows
remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the year
parameter in the wp_title function.

CVE-2007-1897
SQL injection vulnerability in xmlrpc.php in WordPress 2.1.2, and
probably earlier, allows remote authenticated users to execute
arbitrary SQL commands via a string parameter value in an XML RPC
mt.setPostCategories method call, related to the post_id variable.

[Bug 104944] WordPress Post_ID Parameter SQL Injection Vulnerability

2007-04-09 Thread Scott Lockwood
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wordpress

WordPress Post_ID Parameter SQL Injection Vulnerability

Bugtraq ID: 23294
Class: Input Validation Error
CVE:
Remote: Yes
Local: No
Published: Apr 03 2007 12:00AM
Updated:Apr 05 2007 03:52PM
Credit: [EMAIL PROTECTED] is credited with the discovery of this
vulnerability.
Vulnerable: WordPress WordPress 2.1.2

WordPress is prone to an SQL-injection vulnerability because it fails to
sufficiently sanitize user-supplied data before using it in an SQL
query.

Exploiting this issue could allow an attacker to compromise the
application, access or modify data, or exploit latent vulnerabilities in
the underlying database implementation.

WordPress 2.1.2 is vulnerable to this issue; other versions may also be
affected

Attackers can use a browser to exploit this issue.

The following proof-of-concept exploit is available:
http://www.securityfocus.com/data/vulnerabilities/exploits/23294.pl

Solution:
Currently we are not aware of any vendor-supplied patches for this issue. If
you feel we are in error or if you are aware of more recent information, please

This seems to occur at upgrade, and not during subsequent install. I was
able to install the package thusly:

sudo apt-get -f -u -m install qt4-dev-tools

Once the upgrade was complete.

[Bug 555705] [NEW] BUG: scheduling while atomic: swapper/0/0x10010000

2010-04-05 Thread Scott Lockwood
Public bug reported:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System
-> About Ubuntu.

Description:Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release:10.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
packagename' or by checking in Synaptic.

linux:
  Installed: 2.6.32.19.20
  Candidate: 2.6.32.19.20
  Version table:
 *** 2.6.32.19.20 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) What you expected to happen

On occasion, after bringing up the system and logging in, the option to
connect to the CDMA network via my CDMA card is missing from the network
manager icon. I expected that to be there. Running pppd manually works,
so it's not the card.

4) What happened instead

If I slide the wifi switch on the side of my Dell D-630 into the off
position, wait a few moments, and then turn it back on, the crash
happens. This switch is only supposed to disable or enable the antenna.

[Bug 608515] Re: Can't establish audio or video calls

2010-12-15 Thread Scott Lockwood
I have this same bug, have all the appropriate packages installed, have
deleted my ~/.gstreamer-0.10 directory, and still cannot establish
either audio or video calls with either Empathy or Pidgin. Cheese works,
so the Camera works, but that's about it.

@Scott Lockwood: Are you using 10.10? This bug is currently marked
invalid (see Omer's latest post for details). If you're experiencing
this in 10.10, please re-open this bug.

I personally would love to test this, but unrelated issues prevent me
from upgrading to 10.10. I think I'll just have to stick with 10.04 for
a while. At any rate, if this is still an issue in 10.10, it'd be good
to know.

There was a failure in the call engine
Technical details
Could not create the valve element

When I receive a call from a GTalk user, my webcam lights up for < 0.5
s, then it turns off and I get the same error as above.

Google searches suggested installing gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad, but that
made no difference; the error is the same.
