[Bug 811745] Re: Whole system freeze after safely remove external usb drive

2018-12-04 Thread Saren Taşçıyan
@politas what is really different? It looks identical to me (except the
different kernel versions and LUKS part). If I know why, I can use that
information also to open the new bug report.

[Bug 811745] Re: Whole system freeze after safely remove external usb drive

2018-11-26 Thread Saren Taşçıyan
I have the exact same issue now at 16.04 LTS. This started to happen
recently (~1 month).

$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS
Release:16.04
Codename: xenial

$ uname -a
Linux lngrad031 4.4.0-139-generic #165-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 24 10:58:50 UTC 2018
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

System is completely unresponsive (even REISUB doesn't work). I didn't
know if I had to start a new bug report. So far I tested it with LUKS
encrypted drive.

[Bug 1055171] Re: Nautilus hangs when TIFF file properties are requested

2017-04-21 Thread Saren Taşçıyan
I have a similar problem and it involves so far large tiff files. I
always had issues with applications freezing on Ubuntu. For these using
strace always revealed underlying reasons. Most the time it was
unaccessible network drives. However, in this case it seems to be that
nautilus trying to read the whole file or is in some kind of loop within
the reading process of the file. The file I have is 19GB on external
HDD.

[Bug 1003873] Re: Inkscape hangs while trying to access slow mounts.

2017-03-01 Thread Saren Taşçıyan
This affects me as well. In my case strace shows access to files, which
are inaccessible. It is a common practice to hide shared file systems
behind private networks. Access via internet required VPN connection or
being in the local network. If this is not the case, things get weird.
And this actually affects many applications (is not inkscape specific).
I had issues with LibreOffice as well.

In my case, strace inkscape reveals files which are at the inaccessible
network. The IO (which I guess fails) takes seconds until some sort of
time-out. But if there are many files, then this takes longer
cumulatively. Funny thing is that none of these files were actually in
any way associated to inkscape. Basically, this happens while inkscape
checks/goes through recently accessed files. My guess is that some
library or component does this, which is shared by many applications. If
you can find, which (if this is the case) I would like to report the
issue them as well.

2013-12-06 Thread Saren Taşçıyan
I am also affected by this bug on my LG R400 laptop and neither the
current release of initramfs-tools nor adding ohci_pci or other possible
parameters solved the problem. I still have to use older kernels in
order to be able to type disk encryption password. New kernels cannot
activate the keyboard.

[Bug 1518726] [NEW] Webcam cannot start after interrupted access with "VIDIOC_STREAMON: Invalid argument"

2015-11-22 Thread Saren Taşçıyan
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I am trying to make my first application in C++ with OpenCV, where I am trying
to capture images from the built-in webcam on my Lenovo T450s. I use Eclipse
CDT as my IDE to write code and debug. During several trials, sometimes I need
to STOP running applications via Eclipse (probably through some interrupt
signal). Whenever the application is interrupted, during the next run it cannot
access the webcam and is returning
"VIDIOC_STREAMON: Invalid argument"

Apparently this is because resources are not released due to the
interrupt. Also VLC cannot access webcam after I start seeing this
error.

Apparently there are 1-2 reports about this issue related to OpenCV and kernel,
and there is also a workaround by handling SIGINT properly and correctly
exiting. I could not work that solution in Eclipse, because probably Eclipse
STOP button does not send SIGINT but some other signal. Nevertheless, I was
expecting kernel to handle this in another way, so that resources would be
released automatically to allow other applications to access webcam.
However, webcam cannot be accessed after a program is interrupted.

[Bug 1535394] Re: Xorg crashes at certain wiki pages via firefox

2016-02-23 Thread Saren Taşçıyan
I need to shrink my file system, install second Ubuntu OS (besides the current
Ubuntu and Windows 7 installation) and I won't be able to reproduce my setup
(all the applications and configurations). Among those, I have configured
custom keyboard with support for greek letters, I changed hardware accelaration
from SNA to UXA:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/607232/ubuntu-14-04-gui-text-and-pictures-displaying-problem-like-a-virus?rq=1

Maybe these are the root of the problem. If it is possible, I would like
to debug the issue on my current setup (with debugging tools or
configuring for detailed logs etc.). Since, this is my work computer, I
don't want to mess around too much.

If this is the only way to proceed, I may try the daily build in the
future as well.

2) Firefox still crashes Xorg back to login screen when I open

I did not get any crash on en.wikipedia.org yet but that happens very randomly.

3) marking as new...

[Bug 1535394] Re: Xorg crashes at certain wiki pages via firefox

2016-01-20 Thread Saren Taşçıyan
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 trusty ubuntu

** Description changed:

  Hi,

I am having a weird problem in Ubuntu and I will try to explain when it
happens. When I open Wikipedia main page or View history on any wiki
page, sometimes (not always) Xorg (I suppose) freezes (UI becomes
unresponsive for a while about 10-60 seconds) until it jumps to login
screen. If I login, I need to start all the application all over again.
Firefox starts but if I repeat the same process (visiting the same web
page) Xorg crashes again. The two pages so far this behaviour occurs
  are:

http://en.wikipedia.org (main page, I can however directly open any article
and navigate from there)
  http://imagej.net/index.php?title=ImgLib2_Examples&action=history (history
page of a wiki page)

There are no dialogs after the crash reporting about a crash. I really don't
know how to track the problem to find the cause.
Even though Firefox is chrashing, Xorg should not be affected.

I am using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

  3.13.0-74-generic

  X.Org X Server 1.15.1
