Re: [Bug 1821849] Re: LibreOffice Impress 6.2.2.2 Embedded Video Problem
That is indeed interesting that Ubuntu 19.04 does not have this problem. I have just install the latest build of Kubuntu 19.04 into another partition of my HP Spectre x360 15-ch004ng which has a 1TB SSD. I tested the video after all the latest LibreOffice updates and it still gave the same problems that I reported. Basically, when a video is started the display goes full screen and is a mess. Re: [Bug 1821849] Re: LibreOffice Impress 6.2.2.2 Embedded Video Problem
Hi Olivier, I should firstly point out that my problems are on Kubuntu 19.04. I downloaded the file and extracted it in my home directory into the file LibreOffice_6.2.2.2_Linux_x86-64_deb. I purged my current version of LibreOffice and installed this new version. The version information is attached. It still gave the same problem that I reported on. When I launch the odp file I get a blank black screen with white slider strips on the right edge and bottom edge. Clicking on the black screen shows the slide which can be used to start a display slide-show. However, when advancing to the embedded video, a reduced size previous slide is overlaid on the video. If I connect an external monitor, both screens have the same display with the video taking full screen and overlaid with the previous slide. If I am in the LibreOffice Impress edit mode and I click on the slide with the video, the display goes to full screen and no edit option is possible. I hope the above information helps you find some way to reproduce the problems I am experiencing. [Bug 1789029] Re: Impress embedded video takes full screen
I have version 6.1.3.2 and on both Cosmic and Disco distributions, a Presentation with an Inserted video ignores video page size of the projection Screen. Even when a 4:3 video image is shown it totally occupies the 16:9 contolling screen. This makes LibreOffice totally unusable on Cosmic and Disco if a video is to be projected during a presentation. Re: [Bug 772276] Re: Cannot use Web Cam Microphone
Dear David, Yes that did work - thanks for your help. I realize that you are not familiar with KDE but I have noticed of late on the Kubuntu forum that there were a number of people moving to it from Ubuntu. Now regarding pulse audio. I had thought that one of its main attributes was with its flexibility to handle different input and output devices. I had found previously with Kubuntu 10.10, that if I put my Logitech Laptop speakers and WebCam at the top of the list under KDE's System Settings > Mutimedia > Phonon, when either or both were disconnected it would fall back to the next on the list and use it. Reconnecting the devices would automatically use them again. A very pleasing flexibility. What you are suggesting as a solution is by comparison a primitive desktop interface and this should be fixed in the interests of usability. I certainly hope that something is done soon to make pulse audio in 11.04 work in the same way as it did in 10.10. I am not impressed when a new release results in one step forward and two steps backward. Re: [Bug 772276] Re: Cannot use Web Cam Microphone
Hi David, I must apologise for not having my webcam plugged in when I provided the information. My webcam is a Logiteech Vision Pro for Mac. It is usb connected and has inbuilt drivers for the camera and the microphone. I followed your instructions and the alsa file is attached. In the end, I decided to install Kubuntu 11.04 on my Laptop and I experienced exactly the same problem. In this case, it is convenient to disable the onboard sound as I can revert to a usb connected speaker with the webcam. I will be going overseas on the 6th May and will be taking a Netbook computer. From what I experienced on it, the same sound problem exist with that as well. Thus in all cases when I want to use Skype with the webcam microphone, I have to disable the onboard sound. I have found that when I use Audacity with the onboard sound working, I can use the webcam microphone for recording and then playback through the speakers connected to the sound card. This problem did not occur with Skype on Kubuntu 10.10. It was because Skype worked with 10.10 that I deleted my M$ Windows partition as that was the only reason I kept M$ Windows. I was testing Kubuntu 11.04 on a 32B computer to determine if I would use it on my main computer. Until this problem is fixed I have no intention of upgrading from 10.10 as Skype is a critical application for communication with family overseas. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/772276 Title: Cannot use Web Cam Microphone -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 334577] Re: cpufreq : abnormal cpu frequences range used
I am using Kububntu 20.10 on a HP Spectre x360 15-ch004ng. It has Kernel Version 5.8 installed and does not correctly access the cpuinfo frequency parameters for my CPU, which is an 8xIntel Core i7-8705G CPU @ 3.10GHz. I decided to try booting 20.10 into recovery mode and then entered the console. I found that cat/proc/cpuinfo | grep "MHz" gave the correct results. I took a photo of it and this is shown in the attachment. When I reboot, it then shows the /proc/cpuinfo frequencies in MHz with a string of 800's, ie :~$ uname -r 5.8.0-18-generic :~$ cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep "MHz" cpu MHz : 800.072 cpu MHz : 800.012 cpu MHz : 800.123 cpu MHz : 800.196 cpu MHz : 800.009 cpu MHz : 800.143 cpu MHz : 800.062 cpu MHz : 800.086 I am not sure how much of the Kernel is loaded at the recovery stage, but it appears that the problem with not getting the correct CPU Info occurs after this point. The end result is a very slow desktop. This is solved by installing Kernel Version 5.4.0-42 ** Attachment added: "Recovery mode console frequencies in file /proc/cpuinfo" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cpufrequtils/+bug/334577/+attachment/5406778/+files/Recovery20.10.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/334577 Title: cpufreq : abnormal cpu frequences range used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cpufrequtils/+bug/334577/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 334577] Re: cpufreq : abnormal cpu frequences range used
I need to add a correction to my previous comment about the cpuinfo frequency error. I have now realized that the cpuinfo frequency in the attached image from the recovery mode was significantly above the maximum CPU frequency of 3,100MHz. So the CPU frequency before and after the recovery mode is in error and makes me wonder the location used to get these values. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/334577 Title: cpufreq : abnormal cpu frequences range used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cpufrequtils/+bug/334577/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 334577] Re: cpufreq : abnormal cpu frequences range used
Looks like I was mistaken about the frequency range of my CPU. I double checked it at: https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-Spe289806.0.html and found that it's CPU is rated between 3100 and 4100 MHz. So the frequencies in /proc/cpuinfo from the recovery mode are correct and only change to the wrong values in the 800MHz range after a normal reboot.

[Bug 1965651] [NEW] ubiquity crash stops the installation of kubuntu 22.04
Public bug reported: I created a boot-able USB using Kubuntu 21.10 and the package startup disk creator. I have tried different downloaded iso's for kubuntu 22.04 with the same result of ubiquity crashing before an installation can start. I went as far as zeroing the USB before making it bootable for kubuntu 22.04. That USB gave he same result of ubiquity crashing. I did find a February iso and that went through to the installation step without crashing. However because of the large number of updates the system was not usable.
