I've tried with WEP and hwcrypto=0. There seems to be more stability but the 
problem still persists.

Yesterday applyed updates to Kubuntu 10.04, and the problem is solved.
Now I am able to suspend/hibernate and return from suspend/hibernate
correctly.

[Bug 846871] Re: dropbox crashed with KeyError in __getitem__(): 'content-length'

Same here. 
After the upgrade from 11.04, Dropbox simply did not start, showing the same 
errors that you can see above.
I solved this by installing a previous version of Dropbox (dropbox_0.6.8_i386), 
and starting dropbox from the command line.

Why don't you use compiz on yout laptop?
I had an Acer 1601 - Pentium 4 with an ATI Radeon graphics board - and
it ran compiz nicely,
