[Bug 331506] Re: BOINC randomly freezes Ubuntu (Intrepid 64 bit)
Me too! My case is exactly the same as above accept I'm dumb and decided to run it on a server. After a couple of days of finding the server unresponsive after a few hours, I was pretty sure the thing that changed was adding project 'milkyway at home'. i have had two other projects running without incident. i had also been working on the newfangled (to me anyways) systemd-resolvconf as well as doing some ufw work around the same time that server started crashing so am reverting and changing those as well as i try to isolate the problem. Though i was unable to connect to server (assuming through the roof load (verified)) however oddly enough it did respond to soft power from cloud console. I'm 99.9% sure boinc is the issue simply based on above descriptions. i'll know in 24 hours and will update tomorrow. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331506 Title: BOINC randomly freezes Ubuntu (Intrepid 64 bit) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/boinc/+bug/331506/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: After upgrading from 45.8.0+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 to 52.1.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1, the Mail Toolbar buttons were all pushed to the far right in the "view a message" window. Nvidia apparently made some bad chips... http://www.nvidiasettlement.com/affectedmodels.html http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1013947/why-nvidia-duff-chips-shoddy-engineering Even if your Dell isn't on the Official List, it might still have the affected GPU. I solved the problem by replacing an old-but-just-purchased "G86" GeForce 8400GS with a new-and-just-purchased "G98" 8400GS. The key is to look for an 8400GS with 512MB RAM. The 128MB cards are definitely old and the 256MB cards *might* be old. Another indicator is that only the G98 cards are PCIe v2 x16, whereas the older ones are v1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_PureVideo#Table_of_PureVideo_.28HD.29_GPUs -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/663463 Title: Blank screen on boot unless nouveau was disabled. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 992971] Re: libavformat53 Mismatching header version
Followups: 1) this bug does *not* prevent the video from playing successfully. 2) Added the motumedia ppa last night and upgraded mplayer to 1.0~svn34707-1~precise. That mplayer is at libavformat version 54.0.0 and there's no more version mismatch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/992971 Title: libavformat53 Mismatching header version To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libav/+bug/992971/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1416843] [NEW] Indicator element appears over the panel, not above
Public bug reported: $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Release:14.04 $ apt-cache policy xfce4-indicator-plugin xfce4-indicator-plugin: Installed: 2.3.2-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 2.3.2-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 2.3.2-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status When I click on an icon in the Indicator "region", the pop-up menu pops up overlays the xfce4 panel, instead of being above the panel as was the action in 13.10, and even currently in tools(?) like Whisker Menu an Places. This means that the lowest menu item sits directly over the mouse. For an app like Transmission-gtk, where "Quit" is the lowest item in the menu, this leads to many errant closings of the program. [Bug 92599] Re: Incorrect (low/stuttering) refresh rate with NVIDIA driver
Daniel, no luck with smooth windows after disabling Detect Refresh Rate. In fact, they became jerky again. Also, it turns out that disabling Bailer didn't work well either. What does seem to work is disabling all Window Management options except Move Window and Resize Window. Lastly, as another bit of info: the OpenGL game Extreme Tux Racer performs well, but the screen is corrupted upon exit. Attached is a screenprint demonstrating the problem. [Bug 992895] [NEW] Window updates are much slower under 12.04 than 10.10
Public bug reported: See question #195487, which I think was wrongly assigned to xserver-xorg-video-nv. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nv/+question/195487 To rehash question #195487: I just upgraded from GNOME 2.32 on a PPA- loaded Maverick 10.10 to 12.04 using GNOME Classic No Effects. Window updates are noticeably slower in apps like gnome term, pysolfc and nethack-x11, while some gtkperf tests are significantly slower on my machine than on my wife's slower machine. I ran it under all of the Unity and GNOME variants and the times weren't significantly different. This is a list of the significantly slower gtk operations (along with a couple of faster operations): http://pastebin.com/M0Ed92Ta We both have the nvidia 295.40 driver installed. She still runs a PPA-loaded Maverick system. My system has an Athlon II X4 640 CPU with GeForce 210 GPU while she has a Phenom II X2 555 with 8400GS GPU. Does screen size matter? The monitor, video card and binary driver are the same today as they were 48 hours ago (when I upgraded). I get 3400fps in glxgears and Tux Racer responds well, so it's NOT bug #982485. [Bug 765357] [NEW] Need to be able to suppress configuration output
Public bug reported: Hi, In 0.6.2-4:0.6.2-1ubuntu1~ppa1~maverick1 there is 4.5KB of configuration output! Even "-loglevel quiet" doesn't suppress it. Most of the time, (especially in scripts) all that info is not needed and the noise pollutes the output making it hard to see what's really important. So, how to suppress this?
