[Bug 391462] Re: Totem Youtube plugin doesn't allow seeking

2009-06-24 Thread Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 277264 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/277264

I don't exactly see this as a duplicate. From what I understand that bug
says gstreamer doesn't even support youtube. I can play the videos fine,
but the bar for seeking is greyed out. It doesn't stop playback when I
try to seek.

I think maybe it may just be a simple thing to fix.

Emerald from git does not include this. Plus, it makes more sense to get
emerald themes from one of the opendesktop.org sites, like gnome-
look.org etc.

1. You can't add extensions, because the extension manager won't open.

[Bug 550638] [NEW] no thumbnails in nautilus

2010-03-28 Thread Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

recently, and somewhat randomly, nautilus stopped showing thumbnails
(any thumbnails). I thought it was cover thumbnailer at fault, but I've
since removed and reinstalled it several times with no change.

There are no pdf, html, video, or office thumbnails... no thumbnails at
all.

Of note, pcmanfm shows thumbnails for images (probably unrelated). I can
watch videos fine, so it's not codecs (please, do not tell me about
missing codecs; it's not that at all).

I've tried using the "solution" of deleting the ./thumbnails folder. it
didn't work, and in fact, nautilus refuses to recreate any thumbnails :(

what is interesting tho is that the image viewer does place thumbnails
in this folder.

Also, I have firefox 3.7dev installed, can this be a part of the issue?
should I remove it to test?

[Bug 486520] [NEW] pulseaudio not working on karmic, undefined symbol

2009-11-21 Thread Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

first, it was a link to an old libpulsecommon so file, now, that .so
file is there (I can't trace it back to package somehow) but pulseaudio
won't start, nor will the volume control, nor will the media keys plugin
of gnome-settings-daemon.

It says there is an undefined symbol. I removed the old .so file, and it
cause the segfault in gnome-volume-control to go away, but now I can't
seem to get it to run.

below is the ldd on it. I know there is a non package lib, but it won't
go away. if I delete it, and reinstall pulseaudio, it's back.

[Bug 486520] Re: pulseaudio not working on karmic, undefined symbol

2009-11-23 Thread Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor
I only just saw your reply. I found the libs before :) and fixed the
issue. Shouldn't these libs be checked for on installation of the
package though? I think maybe this might have exposed an area that could
be improved.

[Bug 1820377] [NEW] Headerbars not respecting window control button layout

2019-03-16 Thread Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor
Public bug reported:

I'm running Ubuntu 18.10.

Full details here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1125401/how-to-
restore-correct-window-control-behaviour-in-gnome

Basically: after installing, then later removing (purging) pantheon, I
found that window controls on CSD windows no longer respect the
gsettings value. Clearing dconf settings completely made no difference.

Only this account is affect.

[Bug 932219] [NEW] Launching Expo is broken if Blender3D is running under compiz (until the system is restarted)

2012-02-14 Thread Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor
Public bug reported:

If I enter expo mode (or switch virtual Desktops) with Blender3D
running, compiz becomes unusable. I have not tried with any other 3D
programs, or with the Cube. It remains unusable until I quit blender and
start compiz again - but entering expo (even after blender is closed and
compiz restarted) causes the same problem until the system is restarted.

The bug is definitely reproducable.

Even if kill X with ctrl+alt+backspace (I enabled this on the system for issues
like this) - it still happens when I log in again.
I've lost files because of it - because there is no way to recover (and my
laptop screen is broken, so I'm using an external monitor with proprietary
nvidia drivers, which means ttys don't show on it).

2014-06-24 Thread Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor
Is this an XFCE bug only? And, is there a workaround?

Scratch that - I'm getting it in Unity as well.

I hope there is a workaround.

2014-01-13 Thread Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 regression reproducible
third-party-packages trusty ubuntu

** Description changed:

- At random, if I'm using ANY 3D program or game (except, strangely,
- window managers, including compiz, gala, mutter, etc)... the GPU will
- lockup, the screen redraws with a bunch of lines at the bottom, and then
- it begins to turn white. I wish I could give more information but each
- time it happens the system locks up completely and I have to force it to
- restart (which is NOT good). This problem was happening on Ubuntu 12.10
- and persists into 13.04.

[Bug 1289832] [NEW] Cannot use a local FFMpeg version.

2014-03-08 Thread Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor
Public bug reported:

Audacity says it was compiled without FFMpeg support, but this should
not be the case.

It should be possible to use a local version of FFMpeg (so one can get
real work done!) on Ubuntu (despite this libav nonsense).

Re: [Bug 1096589] Re: All audio players freeze randomly in 13.04

2013-01-09 Thread Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor
Sorry for the late reply as I had a busy week. I had a gstreamer update
tonight but I'm not able to test yet (have to sleep), so I will test it
again later and see how it goes. I believe it might be Pulseaudio related
in VLC's case for sure. It seems to also occur with Firefox when playing
youtube videos or other flash content (the plugin-container process freezes
Firefox occasionally, and killing it unfreezes it).

As for the gdb trace - I don't think I'll go through with that seeing as
someone else has covered it :)

[Bug 1091058] [NEW] GPU locks up and the screen turns white - it is impossible then to recovery (have to cold reboot!!!)

2012-12-16 Thread Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor
Public bug reported:

At random, if I'm using ANY 3D program or game (except, strangely,
window managers, including compiz, gala, mutter, etc)... the GPU will
lockup, the screen redraws with a bunch of lines at the bottom, and then
it begins to turn white. I wish I could give more information but each
time it happens the system locks up completely and I have to force it to
restart (which is NOT good). This problem was happening on Ubuntu 12.10
and persists into 13.04.

Well currently I have XFCE, Unity, Gnome Shell and Classic (Classic has
2 entries), Openbox, KDE, Pantheon and Enlightenment. And yes, I use
them all (except shell and classic, which I have only to track changes
in them). I'll probably post a screenshot later.

Either way, I don't see why this can't simply be remedied by adding a
scroll bar or allowing the list to scroll either when you reach the
bottom (with the mouse) or with the scroll wheel.
