2013-08-12 Thread Rizwan
I feel the same as new4u, I have been having this keyboard problem and
its really irritating. I use ubuntu as my main development machine. I
left the mac cause I loved working on this, but with this problem, I
guess I will go back. I have an i5 Asus machine running Ubuntu 13.04. I
have upgraded my Kernel to run 3.9.0 but the problem persists.

2008-11-11 Thread Rizwan Roker
Dr. Asfak: The latest 71.86.07 drivers aren't compatible with xorg that
comes with intrepid, so we'll just have to wait for nvidia to release
new 71 drivers that work with the new xorg. You'll have to hang on to NV
for now.

[Bug 376815] [NEW] you tube full screen not really full

2009-05-15 Thread Rizwan Rafique
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu: Jaunty (KDE and gnome both have the issue)
Package: flashplugin-nonfree (10.0.22.87ubuntu2)
Browser: Firefox 3.0.10 (currently)
Graphics card: nVidia 7800 GTX
Graphics driver: nvidia -glx-180 (180.44-0ubuntu1)
Other information: dual-head using nvidia's control panel (meaning no xrandr
etc)

I have been having this issue with flash for a while (since atleast
Hardy). My youtube videos don't go fullscreen. All other flash-video
based sites I've checked work fine.

What exactly happens: Fullscreen opens but actual video size is just
slightly bigger than the original in the middle on the full screen and
rest of the screen around it is black.

Also, this has been checked with opensource flash plugin for mozilla and
it works. But that one is flickery on full screen for all flash vids.
flashplugin-nonfree however is flawless for all other sites checked
except youtube. Not sure why is that. May be some special script youtube
uses or something else.

If more information is needed please let me know.

[Bug 251107] Re: [Intrepid] nvidia_drv.so: undefined symbol: AllocateScreenPrivateIndex

2008-11-04 Thread Rizwan Roker
I've got a Nvidia RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro card. When searching
for drivers on nvidia's website they redirect me to Version: 71.86.06
drivers which I've not tried yet. (I've only tried the 71 deb packages
from the proposed repo) If the company recommends to install the 71
drivers I don't think installing 96 drivers would be the perfect
solution. There are might be some problem somewhere otherwise the
drivers recommended by company are always right for your card. I know
this because I've faced this problem on windows in the past. When I
searched for the windows driver version of my card, the company's site
redirected me to the latest legacy drivers for windows but when I ran
the installer it gave me an error that "No supported device found for
these drivers". But when I force installed those drivers (didn't allow
the OS to mess with the driver installation), drivers worked like a
charm. With the latest 71 drivers I was even able to play some games
that didn't seem to work anytime in the past.

So as Alberto said "Ok, it looks like the problem was not fixed in
driver 71 but only in 96." I trust him and will wait for the problem
(whatever it is) to be fixed in 71 drivers. I would try installing the
71 drivers provided by nvidia's website rather than trying out 96
drivers which are for other cards.

Hello Alberto, thanks for all the work that you do.

I am using a TNT2 card and just installed the 71 driver packages from the
proposed repository (just in the order you told somebody to install) but it
seems still my computer is using nv drivers.
I already did sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic but the result is:
linux-headers-generic is already the newest version.

I am attaching the following files:

[Bug 277691] [NEW] Network settings gets overwritten upon reboot

2008-10-03 Thread Rizwan Rafique
Public bug reported:

I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 couple of days ago.
I had a ethernet connection with static IP address. Here is my
/etc/network/interfaces look like (it has been like this since ever)

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

iface eth1 inet static
address 192.168.254.202
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.254.254

auto eth1

iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.2.2
netmask 255.255.255.0

auto eth0

I will follow eth1 in this report.

I however have a DHCP server running as well that assigns ip addresses
between 192.168.254.1 to 192.168.254.199

Upon upgrade to 8.10 I noticed that the network settings were changed to DHCP
and eth1 got an IP from the range. I configured NetworkManager for static but
no luck. Did /etc/init.d/networking stop/start and it got static.
Reboot overwritten the settings. Had to do /etc/init.d/networking
stop/start/restart to get it work.

Not sure what other hardware/software information is required.
