[Bug 343806] [NEW] gnome-settings-daemon crashes without clear error message
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon Since today, gnome-settings-daemon hasn't been able to start and therefore themes etc don't work either. After running "gnome-settings- daemon --no-daemon --debug" on terminal, the correct theme loads and is displayed until line "** (gnome-settings-daemon:17444): DEBUG: Starting font manager" is shown. There is no progress for a second or two after that, but then g-s-d proceeds. Also, interesting part is the last line before g-s-d exits: "** (gnome-settings-daemon:17329): DEBUG: Crea". I'm using gnome-settings-daemon version 2.24.0-0ubuntu3.3. Also, if more details are needed, i'll be more than willing to help to fix this bug. ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gnome-settings-daemon crashes without clear error message https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/343806 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 343806] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashes without clear error message
I was able to work around this bug by removing all hidden files in ~/. Don't know which of them caused the bug, but those files were:.dmrc, .esd_auth, .gksu_lock, .gtk-bookmarks, .ICEauthority, .mcoprc, .mousetweaks.pid, .mtoolsrc, .pulse-cookie, .recently-used, .recently- used.xbel, .Xauthority, .xscreensaver, .xscreensaver-getimage.cache and .xsession-errors. I have backup of those, if anyone needs any of them. -- gnome-settings-daemon crashes without clear error message https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/343806 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 112488] Beryl and KDE styles conflicting with the menu drop-shadow feature
Public bug reported: If using Beryl with some of the KDE themes (the ones supporting menu drop-down shadow), it sometimes doesn't clear the ugly results of two shadows at the same time, and beryl has to be restarted. Changing KDE's shadows on/off doesn't take effect at all. I am also affected by this bug, using gnome-system-monitor 3.2.1-0ubuntu1, with ATi Radeon HD 3450, fglrx and my CRT monitor connected via DVI-VGA adapter to DVI output. [Bug 626974] Re: ABI change in xorg 1.9 breaks legacy nvidia-96 drivers in Maverick
@angandrob: As far as I know this bug cannot be fixed until NVidia releases xorg 1.9 compatible binary driver. And NVidia has told via its forum that they will release nvidia-96 driver for xorg 1.9, but it is low priority issue for them. [Bug 743668] [NEW] gksu does not ask for specific password with libpam-otpw
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gksu I'm using Natty and gksu does not prompt for specific password when libpam-otpw is being used. What happens: 1. I launch f. ex. synaptic with "gksu synaptic" 2. Gksu asks for "Password". 3. I have no information of which password (out of the list of 280 passwords generated by otpw-gen) gksu wants. Fallback to normal unix password does not seem to work either. 4. Can't open application. What should happen: 1. I launch f. ex. synaptic with "gksu synaptic" 2. Gksu asks for "Password 123". 3. I type the password in. 4. If it is correct, application should be launched. If it is incorrect, gksu should fall back to unix password. [Bug 626974] Re: ABI change in xorg 1.9 breaks legacy nvidia-96 drivers in Maverick
I think the new driver should be packaged and the package released asap, and this bug report should be updated. [Bug 626974] Re: ABI change in xorg 1.9 breaks legacy nvidia-96 drivers in Maverick
Darik: Your packaging works for me, got nvidia running *thumbs up*. The only issue I ran into was X's driver autodetection, which seems to select VESA even if there are all nv, nouveau and nvidia to choose from. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 626974 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/626974 I wonder why this bug got marked as duplicate of #626974. This might be related: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=153963 . So it seems that making their legacy drivers work with X server 1.9 is low priority issue for NVidia.
