[Bug 621265] Re: Slow Wireless Connection in Intel 3945abg
Hi All, I have the impacted wireless card. I booted my laptop using the 10.10 live CD to try it out and see if my laptop is impacted by this bug. After booting I connected to the wireless network, checked connection information and it was connected at 54Mbps. Used the net for 5 mins, working fine. Then left the machine for 20-30mins. Came back and checked connection information and it showed 1Mbps but instantly refreshed the value to 54Mbps. Since then I have been using the net and been checking connection info every few mins, it has been stable at 54Mbps (except once when it showed 48Mbps) for the last 30mins. Does this mean my laptop will work fine after upgrading from 10.04 to 10.10? Thanks, Raju. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/621265 Title: Slow Wireless Connection in Intel 3945abg -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 621265] Re: Slow Wireless Connection in Intel 3945abg
Hi All, As per my previous update, I have been using my laptop on wireless for over an hour now. I have been browsing the net, played a movie trailer from my NAS drive and a few other things just to keep the wireless connection active. Have also been checking the speed in connection information and it has been stable at 48-54Mb/s.
Hi All, Further update to my post #181. The next day I again booted up from the live CD and left the system running all day. I monitored the connection speed during activity and with no activity. The speed displayed in the connection information dialog dropped every few minutes to 1Mb/s but for a very short period (1-5seconds) and then it would jump back up to 54Mb/s. Whenever I saw it at 1Mb/s I tried to access something on my LAN or internet and the speed jumped back to 54Mb/s. Whether it was because of activity on the laptop or because it was anyway jumping up within few seconds, difficult to tell. At all times I was able to use internet at normal speeds. I could not do a speed test because I was not able to install flash plugin for some reason , maybe because I was booted from a live CD. Still not confident I want to upgrade to 10.10 so will stick with 10.04. [Bug 486408] [NEW] Transmission downloading the torrent data again after crash
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: transmission I was downloading the debian dvd image (4.2 GB) using transmission 1.75 in ubuntu 9.10 (32 bit). The default download location for Transmission is ~/Downloads but I was downloading the data at a different location which is a separate partition of ext4 type. After downloading nearly 50% of the data, I got an error message: "Error:Read only file system". Somehow the filesystem become read only. So I closed Transmission and restarted the laptop and then started Transmission again. But this time Transmission started downloading the data from scratch at the default location i.e. ~/Downloads folder. I tried to set the location of the torrent data (with 'Local data is already here' option) to previous location where it already downloaded 50% data but when it verified the data, it was only 2.64%. I lost rest of the data. If any other information is required from my side, please let me know. ** Affects: transmission (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Transmission downloading the torrent data again after crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/486408 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 486412] [NEW] Transmission hangs while downloading data over 4 GB on encrypted file system
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: transmission I have ubuntu 9.10 (32 bit) installed with encrypted home directory. Whenever I download a file of over 4 GB (for ex: any dvd image), Transmission 1.75 hangs and CPU usage becomes 100%. When I try to kill the Transmission process, the status of the process becomes 'Zombie' and CPU usage is still 100%. I then need to restart the laptop. The download of the same file works fine on other file systems without encryption. ** Affects: transmission (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Transmission hangs while downloading data over 4 GB on encrypted file system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/486412 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 486408] Re: Transmission downloading the torrent data again after crash
Hi Charles, Sorry to reply so late. I don't think that the issue is related to ext4 file system becoming read only as it took almost 10 hours to download 50% data (nearly 2 GB) and during that time I was continuously using my system. If Transmission is writing the data continuously to hard disk, then I should have got a lot more than just 2.64% of the total download. Also, as soon as the file system become read only, I restarted the system. Another point is why Transmission started to download the file at default location. -- Transmission downloading the torrent data again after crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/486408 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1295794] [NEW] nautilus opens a new window if clicked on its unity icon even when another nautilus window is open with ntfs drive folder open
Public bug reported: I could not make the title shorter and clearer, please forgive. How to reproduce this bug: On a freshly booted system running Ubuntu 14.04 having unity as its desktop-manager and having at least one NTFS partition on its internal hard disk, do the following: 1) Open a nautilus window and mount an NTFS partition and keep any of the folders on the NTFS partition open in this window. 2) Now open any other application(I opened firefox) and then go back to the nautilus window by pressing on nautilus' unity icon(which should have a small arrow to the left of the nautilus icon, indicating it is already open). Do not use Alt+Tab to go back to nautilus- this works fine. 3) This will open a new nautilus window with the home folder(or whichever is the default path to open when a new nautilus window is opened) and bring the originally opened folder on the NTFS partition. What I expected to happen? Clicking on an already opened nautilus window will open(bring to foreground) the folder on the NTFS partition. What actually happened? A new window with my home folder as its default opening path, opened, giving me two nautilus windows opened. lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected trusty ** Description changed: Whenever an update that needs a restart happens, a windows pops up saying this: The computer needs to restart to finish installing updates. This has three options: 1) Settings 2) 2) Restart later and 3) Restart Now... If the "restart later" option is selected, this dialog box pops up back in around 10 minutes- the user has no control over this timing.
