[Bug 29566] Re: Missing firmware for bcm43xx/b43 driver during install

2008-07-03 Thread Przemysław Kulczycki
This bug is very annoying because it's an absurd to require a network
connection to install a network driver. If you don't have another network
interface then you're stuck and have to use another computer or another
operating system.
The b43-fwcutter downloads 2 files from openwrt.org:
http://downloads.openwrt.org/sources/broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0.tar.bz2
and http://downloads.openwrt.org/sources/wl_apsta-3.130.20.0.o
Maybe the guys from openwrt.org could be asked if redistribution of this files
is possible. If not, then maybe Canonical could ask Broadcom for permission to
redistribute these files.

[Bug 240916] Re: Screen Resolution Limitations

2008-12-04 Thread Przemysław Kulczycki
I'm also affected by this bug.
I'm using Ubuntu for over 3 years, and I've survived many difficulties with
configuration, but now I must say that the new Xorg resolution autodetection
simply sucks!
It can't detect correct resolution settings on both my laptop (ati, 8.04) and
pc (nvidia, 8.10), using both open and closed driver. I always have to
configure xorg.conf by hand because that's the only option to get the best
results.
Not having any possibility to manually choose graphics card and monitor in GUI
is a serious limitation and a regression from previous versions.
Yes, I know that power users like me can type in whole xorg.conf by hand, but
that's painful and takes much more time than clicking in the gui and choosing
all the stuff manually.
I miss the old tools from breezy-feisty era.

[Bug 390306] [NEW] file-roller extracts files to wrong directory when choosing a parent directory of the current one

2009-06-21 Thread Przemysław Kulczycki
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

File-roller has an unintuitive manner of extracting files when navigating to
parent directories of the current one. When you go up in your directory
hierarchy in the extracting-location chooser, the subdirectory that you have
just got out of will always be highlighted, and File-roller will use it for
extracting.
This is confusing because the files you have just extracted will not be in the
directory that you wanted to extract them to.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Move an archive to some subdirectory, ie. /home/user/Desktop
2) Click on Extract
3) Click on a name of a parent directory (or parent's parent) to change to this
directory (ie. /home/user/)
4) Click on extract
5) The files will be extracted to a subdirectory of the directory you wanted to
extract your files to (here: Desktop instead of /home/user).
See attached screenshots.
I've tested it on a deeper file hierarchies (ie.
/home/azrael/Desktop/test0/test1/test2/test3) and it always behaved the same.

My c702 works, but only when I choose the multimedia-transfer mode (I don't

mass storage mode.
Strangely enough, it allows me to transfer less than 129.3MB at once, because
that is the amount of free space Nautilus always shows on my mobile, even

[Bug 388539] Re: Nautilus needs 'Move To.../Copy to...' actions for files and folders

Just as in upstream bug comment, I'd second that we shouldn't make the nautilus
context menus larger than they already are.
Maybe you could use the nautilus-sendto extension instead?

[Bug 391213] Re: Names of mounted partitions are unclear

2009-06-26 Thread Przemysław Kulczycki
I can confirm that. This could be confusing for new users which don't know how
to check which is the right partition.
I can also add that if a label (name) for a partition exists, Nautilus uses it
instead of the default "20GB medium" text.
Ie. my Windows partition has a label "Win" and Nautilus shows it as "Win".
