I have got a similar error in my downloaded eclipse, it crashes all the
time, e.g. after clicking "finish" of the configure-server-dialogue:

Forgot to mention: I use karmic, amd64, adding the -Xint-Option doesn't
help.

EDIT: Where can I say it is actually a wish, not a bug? I cannot change
the "Importance" field.

[Bug 159215] incremental updates

2007-11-01 Thread PolitikerNEU
Public bug reported:

I noticed that most of the times when I started adept_manager, it told
me that many new versions (1 Gigabyte!) were available. However, the
updates were really tiny, not even a minor release (e. g. 1.4.0_ubuntu2
instead of 1.4.0_ubuntu1) so it would be much to download to get really
few things.

So my wish is that the ubuntu server stores diff-rpms for the updates of
the last week (i. e.) and the last two versions so that people do not
have so much data to transfer.

[Bug 438621] [NEW] Firefox crashes at start

2009-09-29 Thread PolitikerNEU
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

Whenever I try to start firefox 3.5 in karmic, I may select the profile but
then I get the following error before any page loads:
The program 'firefox' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 834 error_code 3 request_code 20 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

The strange thing is: If I try to debug firefox using firefox -g,
firefox works perfectly!

apt-cache policy packagename returns:
firefox:

[Bug 892595] Re: Max fan speed severly limited.

2012-08-02 Thread PolitikerNEU
This problem affects me as well. I am running Ubuntu 12.04, with kernel
3.2.0-29-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 27 17:03:23 UTC 2012 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux on an Acer 5750G with an i5-2410M processor with
2.3 GHz and Nvidia Optimus with Nvidia GeForce GT 540M.

Until grub loads, fan runs on full speed, after that, the speed is reduced.
Like in the problem described by the original poster, instead of increasing fan
speed to the maximum, CPU frequency is reduced. I should note, however, that
there seem to be at least two fan speeds (low and middle) used automatically;
unfortunately I do not see a way to manually set fan speed
(e.g. using sudo pwmconfig results in /usr/sbin/pwmconfig: There are no
pwm-capable sensor modules installed)
