[Bug 1753509] Re: avahi-daemon adds/installs every printer on network
Thank you for the step by step procedure jrgsampaio. I just followed it with the trivial modification to edit cupsd.conf instead of cups.conf. Unfortunately, I can't test it until I next travel to a conference with discoverable printers on the network, so I have no idea if it worked yet. I definitely wish this were easier. It would make sense to have an explicit "find printers" capability, followed by a checkbox list to confirm which ones you actually want to add. Having them automatically appear in your list (and stay there, long after you have disconnected from the network where those printers existed!) is not helpful at all, and in fact makes it too easy to send jobs to the wrong printer, which can be be a very serious problem if you have sensitive material in your printout. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1753509 Title: avahi-daemon adds/installs every printer on network To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups-filters/+bug/1753509/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1470979] [NEW] ghostscript 9.15+dfsg-0ubuntu2 segmentation fault
Public bug reported: Precise details and an example pdf file to reproduce the problem can be found in the ghostscript bug tracking system: http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=695862 I can confirm the problem on Ubuntu 15.04, and it also prevents me from being able to print certain pdf files through cups (the print job hangs in the queue and printing stops on the offending page). The problem has been fixed upstream in 9.16, but this has not been propagated to Ubuntu as far as I can tell. ** Affects: ghostscript (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1470979 Title: ghostscript 9.15+dfsg-0ubuntu2 segmentation fault To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ghostscript/+bug/1470979/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1470979] Re: ghostscript 9.15+dfsg-0ubuntu2 segmentation fault
FYI, for anyone else who might find this entry, I found two possible workarounds: a) use pdftops to convert a pdf file into a ps file that will safely print (note, this is pdftops, *not* pdf2ps) b) installing ghostscript, ghostscript-x, libgs9, and libgs9-common packages 9.16~dfsg~0-0ubuntu1 found here (proposed for Ubuntu Wily 15.10): https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ghostscript/9.16~dfsg~0-0ubuntu1 The b) option is nicer because I'm back to being able to print natively from my usual programs, and fortunately it did not require any extra dependencies beyond those already present on my 15.04 system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1470979 Title: ghostscript 9.15+dfsg-0ubuntu2 segmentation fault To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ghostscript/+bug/1470979/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
