[Bug 1685984] Re: packages (multiple) failed to install/upgrade: unable to open 'xxxxx.dpkg-new': Operation not permitted

2020-01-16 Thread Paulo Sequeira
FYI, someone in a Sohos forum posted a workaround that can help relieve
some of the pain with the issues caused by the product until it's more
thoroughly diagnosed and addressed: adding pre & post rules to
temporarily deactivate the AV on-access scanner while updates take
place. Quoting from the forum post:

> I did this by creating the file /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/00sav-protect with
the contents:

DPkg::Pre-Invoke {
  "echo Stopping sav-protect...";
  "systemctl stop sav-protect.service";
  "echo Done";
};
DPkg::Post-Invoke {
  "echo Starting sav-protect...";
  "systemctl start sav-protect.service";
  "echo Done";
};

If you open your System Settings / Software & Updates applet, and then
switch to the "Additional Drivers" tab, does it say it's using an NVIDIA
driver or an INTEL one?

If you can, post a screenshot (Alt+PrntScrn). I'm attaching mine (I do
have an NVIDIA card).

[Bug 1371332] Re: No SIM card deteced for UBuntu Touch when dual booting with Android on Nexus 5

2014-11-02 Thread Paulo Sequeira
This happens to me as well (Nexus4, dual boot from dev channel).

To work around this, I have to execute the following commands:

/usr/share/urfkill/scripts/flight-mode 1  # turn on flight mode
/usr/share/urfkill/scripts/flight-mode 0  # turn off flight mode

After this, the phone may no longer say "No SIM detected", but the
mobile carrier may be still listed as "Unknown". To fix this, I further
exec the next command:

/usr/share/ofono/scripts/enter-pin pin

Where is my SIM's pin and now I can connect to my carrier.

[Bug 1181746] [NEW] print to file always saves to home folder

2013-05-19 Thread Paulo Sequeira
Public bug reported:

When I try to print an email to a PDF by selecting the "Print to File"
option in the Print dialog, the PDF file is always saved to my home
folder even if I select "Desktop" or "Documents" in the "Save in folder"
drop-down list.

However, if I choose "Other..." from the drop-down, and pick the desired
destination folder, this time the PDF is correctly saved in the choosen
folder.

I tested the Print dialog with GEdit and it does not have this problem.
I noticed, though, that in that application, there's no "Save in folder"
drop-down list but only a "File:" button that, when clicked, allows me
to browse for the desired folder and type in the output file name, so
the mechanics are a little different there.

BTW, I forgot to mention that this just started happening after I
updated to Raring yesterday. While using Precise I didn't have this
issue.
