[Bug 1869612] [NEW] libmpi.so link is missing

2020-03-29 Thread Panos Asproulis
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 20.04 package libopenmpi3 does not create the link:

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libmpi.so

which should point to file:

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libmpi.so.40

as it should. As a result a compilation using one of the OpenMPI
compilers such as mpicc fails during linking because the flag "-lmpi"
cannot locate the libmpi.so file.

[Bug 1869635] [NEW] the menu "Dash to Dock Settings" is visible

2020-03-29 Thread Panos Asproulis
Public bug reported:

When the user performs a right-button mouse click on the "Show
Applications" button of the Ubuntu Dock then a "Dash to Dock Settings"
menu option appears as shown in the attached image.

Normally, this menu option is only available on the original "Dash to
Dock" GNOME shell extension used as the basis for the Ubuntu Dock and it
should not be visible or functional on the Ubuntu Dock itself.

[Bug 1869637] [NEW] hidden windows appear as opened after clicking the "Show Applications" button twice

2020-03-29 Thread Panos Asproulis
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce this problem:

1. Click on the Ubuntu Dock to open any application e.g. Nautilus.
2. A window with the contents of this application appears.
3. Click the (-) hide button of the window. The window hides from the desktop.
4. Click the "Show Applications" button of the Ubuntu Dock.
5. After the list of available applications appears click the same button
again. The system returns back to the desktop view.
6. Notice that the previously hidden window now appears as open on the desktop.
However, it is only rendered and it is not functional. One cannot click on this
window to hide it again, move it to another location or use the application
associated with it. The only way to return to normal is to click the icon of
this application on the Ubuntu Dock and in this case the window opens properly
i.e. it is rendered again but this time it can be used.

Expected behaviour:

After step (5) one should return to the desktop with the window of the
opened application still hidden.

Note that if several applications have been opened and their windows
hidden then after operation (5) all previously hidden windows are now
rendered on the desktop but they are not functional, as described above.

[Bug 1866974] Re: The Diffie-Hellman prime sent by the server is not acceptable

2020-03-30 Thread Panos Asproulis
This issue is not coming from Evolution itself. It also manifests itself
when attempting to create an Exchange account using the Settings ->
Online Accounts -> Add an account -> Microsoft Exchange option. In this
case, if the mail server returns a small Diffie-Hellman prime (e.g. 1024
bytes) the handshake fails and the error message reported is:

Error Connecting to Microsoft Exchange server:
Code:6 -- Unexpected response from server

I have encountered the same problem in Fedora some time ago and in this
case the solution was to modify the system wide security level to legacy
by using the following command after installing the crypto-policies
package:

update-crypto-policies --set LEGACY

see: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1549242

However, in the case of Ubuntu 20.04 this does not resolve the problem.

[Bug 1869612] Re: libmpi.so link is missing

2020-03-31 Thread Panos Asproulis
I have libopenmpi-dev installed. This package does not resolve this
issue. As a matter of fact this package does not even install the
openmpi libraries. These are installed by the libopenmpi3 package I
mentioned before. It is this package which should create the missing
link so that both compilations and runs can be done.

[Bug 1869820] Re: Missing dependency: gnome-shell-extension-prefs

2020-04-05 Thread Panos Asproulis
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1869635 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1869635

This bug is not a duplicate of 1869635. This package should always be
installed because it is used by the other gnome shell extensions
including those the user may add manually in the future.

[Bug 1872502] [NEW] There is no installable python package on Focal

2020-04-13 Thread Panos Asproulis
Public bug reported:

There is no installable "python" package on Focal. An attempt to install
it produces the following error:

$ sudo apt install python
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package python is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
  python2-minimal:i386 python2:i386 python2-minimal python2 python-is-python2
2to3 python-is-python3

E: Package 'python' has no installation candidate

This breaks the installation of many other software packages which have
the "python" package as a dependency.

2020-04-13 Thread Panos Asproulis
I have the same problem with my company's email which uses the Rackspace
Outlook 2016 Exchange service. Rackspace told me that they cannot change
the DH key to a value higher than 1024 bits (which I don't believe) and
they suggested that instead the company upgrades to some Office 365
service which supports a higher DH key size. So, at this moment I cannot
use my company's Exchange E-mail from Evolution as I could in the past.
