[Bug 496245] [NEW] openoffice 3.1.1 linux crashes after copy/paste of text from googlemail including the from-line
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org Openoffice 3.1.1 on Ubuntu 9.10 (package: 1:3.1.1-5ubuntu1) This bug is reproducable on my machine. It seems to be related to some special character that Openoffice tries to produce/render for something in the from:...-line of the googlemail- email. As soon as I scroll to the part, where the from-line should be shown (scrolling back up after having pasted the mail), Openoffice crashes. Other text I can copy/paste without problems - also from within firefox/googlemail. [Bug 496245] Re: openoffice 3.1.1 linux crashes after copy/paste of text from googlemail including the from-line
With several tries I managed to get a saved version of a "crashing document". It is attached. Loading it and scrolling through the document crashes my Openoffice 100% as soon as the part with the "From:"-line should be shown (somewhere in the middle). Sadly, there is no log file created in /var/crash. ** Attachment added: "attention: example of a "crashing" document" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/36749847/test.odt -- openoffice 3.1.1 linux crashes after copy/paste of text from googlemail including the from-line https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496245 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sorry, wrong file-version. Doesn't have the "crashing" part in it. Here attached is a "crashing" document. Should crash Openoffice as soon as it is loaded. ** Attachment added: "test5.odt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/36750093/test5.odt -- openoffice 3.1.1 linux crashes after copy/paste of text from googlemail including the from-line https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496245 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 496245] Re: openoffice 3.1.1 linux crashes after copy/paste of text from googlemail including the from-line
Now this is interesting: After succesfully loading the document test5.odt from comment #7 try this: a) scroll up _very slowly_ line by line until you reveal the "From:"-line of the document - no crash happens! Close the document and load it again and now: b) scroll up _fast_ - crashes 100% -- openoffice 3.1.1 linux crashes after copy/paste of text from googlemail including the from-line https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496245 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 496245] Re: openoffice 3.1.1 linux crashes after copy/paste of text from googlemail including the from-line
Can confirm that the problem does _not_ happen with OpenOffice3.1 under WinXP on another machine. The file from comment #7 loads just fine and without problems there. ** Attachment removed: "attention: example of a "crashing" document" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/36749847/test.odt -- openoffice 3.1.1 linux crashes after copy/paste of text from googlemail including the from-line https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496245 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 491483] Re: after recent update which included xorg, xserver etc causes low-graphics mode error at start
I have to report that this bug does also affect other login-managers (well, one at least: Slim). And I am using a Nvidia 9500gt video card - not an ATI. So it does not seem to have much to do with the video card actually. I had the same problem: After an update with the automated update-manager yesterday and the following reboot I was left with the "low graphics mode"-error. _Sometimes_ clicking through "run in low-graphics-mode for one session" etc. led me to my normal login (with Slim). And I would even get a running Compiz... a bit surprising for the expected "low-graphics-mode"... but Compiz would silently die sometime in between and leave me without graphic-effects. Yet very often after reboot I was left without a login and only with scrambled colors on top of the screen or, even worse, a crashed system with a black blank screen where only turning power off helped! I tried many possible solution-variations of tinkering with xorg.conf, deleting and reinstalling the Nvidia-drivers etc. - all to no avail. I was so sure that this had something to do with the updated kernel and non-fitting or conflicting video-drivers... But it was apparently a conflict between GDM and "the other login-manager" - in my case Slim, not KDM. Directly after deinstalling Slim and "dpkg-reconfigure gdm" the "low-graphics-mode" problem is gone. Seems to me its _not_ KDM or Slim who are having the bug. ** Also affects: slim Importance: Undecided Status: New -- after recent update which included xorg, xserver etc causes low-graphics mode error at start https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491483 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1310104] Re: No way to trigger fingerprint authentication on lock screen
Same behaviour here, just as RĂ¼diger Kupper described it. I am also affected. Everything worked beautifully with Ubuntu 13.10. After the update to Ubuntu 14.04 (via dist-upgrade) the trouble with fprintd and lightdm started for me. My guess is: every person with a laptop with fingerprint-reader running Ubuntu 14.04 might be affected by this. What could I do, what files could I provide to help solve this? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1310104 Title: No way to trigger fingerprint authentication on lock screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1310104/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1077395] Re: LibreOffice writer refuses to show any dialog
Exactly the same problem/behaviour here: Sometimes (actually quite often - at one still undefinable point during every session) LibreOffice refuses to open any new dialogue. It won't even close anymore by means of the menu (File -> Quit) - just by closing the window. Luckily saving the document by double-clicking the small icon in LibreOffice's status bar still works - otherwise this would be even more severe. Closing and restarting convinces LibreOfice to work normally again for some time - until the same problem reappears.
