Haha, I didn't explain myself explicitly enough. Without UXA, graphics are great. This happened with Intrepid and this new graphics driver from the PPA. With UXA, the system crashes as soon as GDM is supposed to come up. I'm using 1.5.3. It takes about a second to scroll once at the 600-character mark of a 1351-character line. Scrolling all the way to the end by pressing the End key takes about 2 seconds, whereas when pressing Home from the end of the line is almost instantaneous. Public bug reported: When I first log in, I can see the envelope icon for the messages indicator. I am able to click on it, and cause the drop-down menu to appear. Right between the transmission icon and the wireless indicator, there is a 1px wide column of the panel that I can click on that opens the messages menu.
