[Bug 152171] Re: nautilus-cd-burner do not delete created image for copy disk

2008-10-25 Thread Miklós Juhász
It is NOT fixed in Intrepid version (2.24.0-0ubuntu1).

The temporary image file is not scheduled for removal. If iso is
temporary and exists (i.e. operation was not cancelled) then it should
be added to the temp file list (see attachment) so that it gets cleaned
up properly on finalizing the copy operation.

In the diff I fixed another poblem: toc_filename pointer was not
initialized causing segfault if you selected image file as target but
pressed cancel on the file chooser dialog.

[Bug 152171] Re: nautilus-cd-burner do not delete created image for copy disk

2008-10-27 Thread Miklós Juhász
I have already reported it here as well:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=504392
I really do not understand why it is in resolved state. If you follow the three
steps described in the bug report you can easily reproduce it. I have checked
the source code differences between hardy and intrepid version and there is no
change related to this bug.

[Bug 206459] Re: print status doesn't update automatically

2008-05-18 Thread Miklós Juhász
It does not work on Kubuntu Hardy KDE 3.5.9 (seems to be KDE4 only). On
my machine the applet is informed about the job on the very first print:
the applet tray icon disappears as soon as the job is completed. After
that dbus does not seem to inform the applet that's why it is not
refreshing and the icon remains on the tray and does not refresh until I
manually refresh it. Very annoying bug. As a quick workaround I
installed the gnome version. It is working properly however I got two
tray icons on each print: one for the applet and one for the KJobViewer.
I do not know what makes the kjobviewer not appear when the kde version
of the applet is installed.

[Bug 231735] [NEW] gwenview batch converter fails on tiff images

2008-05-18 Thread Miklós Juhász
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gwenview

Any attempt to batch convert tiff images to jpeg failes on Kubuntu Hardy
KDE 3.5.9 using gwenview v1.4.2-4 and kipi-plugins v0.1.5-1.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Open a picture which is in tiff format (*.tif)
2) Select Modules/Batch processing/Batch convert Images
3) Set image format to JPEG
4) Press Start
5) Result: Error running convert. The 'convert' program from 'ImageMagick'

[Bug 216235] Re: Taskbar buttons missing in Wine 0.9.59

2008-04-14 Thread Miklós Juhász
In the changelog I found:

Dmitry Timoshkov:
winex11.drv: Don't add owned windows to the taskbar.

Hwang YunSong:
winex11: Add owned windows to the taskbar if it has WS_EX_APPWINDOW style.

Related patches (not the corrections but the ones which are the root cause of
this bug):

http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2008-March/052423.html

Patches were meant to fix the following bug:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12160
They might fix bug 12160 but are causing serious regression in other apps. In
my opinion an LTS release should not be shipped with a wine version containing
a bug like this.

[Bug 213767] Re: Selected radio buttons and check-boxes appear blank

2008-04-21 Thread Miklós Juhász
The problem is that Hardy uses QtCurve as the default KDE theme. However
Hardy does not use QtCurve's Gtk2 engine, preferring to style Gtk2 apps
via the Qt engine. QtCurve doesn't look that great when done this way -
certainly nowhere near as good as its native Gtk2 port.

[Bug 203321] Re: kubuntu automounts fat32 volumes with shortname=lower

2008-04-23 Thread Miklós Juhász
Only GNOME allows the user to set default mount options on a per-filesystem
basis.
KDE allows the mount options to be set only on a per-volume basis, not
per-filesystem, which is a bug, because for every new device (let's say your
friend's USB stick) you have to first not mount it, then change options and
then mount. Settings are saved in the $HOME/.kde/share/config/mediamanagerrc

[Bug 216235] [NEW] Taskbar buttons missing in Wine 0.9.59

2008-04-12 Thread Miklós Juhász
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wine

Some of my apps have no taskbar button and after minimizing the app it can only
be closed by killing the process. I'm on Kubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) with wine version
0.9.59-0ubuntu4.
It seems that Gnome is also affected by this bug:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-users/2008-April/031757.html
There was a regression of systray icon and the fix was backported to Hardy
since 0.9.60 will not be in it. The systray bug is described here:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12362

Apparently this bug has been fixed in git (wine-0.9.59-250-g0b64b86) so
this fix should be backported as well.

Affected apps on my system (no taskbar button): ImgBurn, DvdDecrypter,
IsoBuster.

[Bug 216235] Re: Taskbar buttons missing in Wine 0.9.59

2008-04-12 Thread Miklós Juhász
Based on the comments in the mailing lists I supposed that the bug has been
fixed, but I was wrong. I have just checked out the entire Wine source tree
with git and compiled it on a fresh Kubuntu Hardy (in VirtualBox), installed
ImgBurn and experienced the same behaviour.
Half of my applications in wine produce this behaviour but some of them not. It
is even more interesting that I can make ImgBurn somehow go "out of focus": I
start ImgBurn (I can drop down menus, the app is alive as it should). Then I
try to open a project file and it makes the Imgburn window grey and after that
I cannot activate it anymore, not even close it. The only way is to kill the
process. If I start writing a disc, a dialog should be popped up, but instead
the ImgBurn window becomes grey and I have to kill it again.

[Bug 216235] Re: Taskbar buttons missing in Wine 0.9.59

2008-04-12 Thread Miklós Juhász
I do not have comprehensive knowledge about wine so I simply guessed that the
missing taskbar buttons problem may come from winex11.drv. I checked the diffs
between 0.9.58 and 0.9.59 and noticed a potential reason. I commented out line
202-203 in winpos.c, built a new package. As far as I can tell this solved the
problem. I can use all my wine apps again!
This might be just an ugly hack since I do not see the reason behind adding
these lines to the source. I can only hope that I could give you a hint about
where to start.

The uncommented lines:

if (!(ex_style & WS_EX_APPWINDOW) && GetWindow( data->hwnd, GW_OWNER ))
new_state |= (1 << NET_WM_STATE_SKIP_TASKBAR);

[Bug 162736] growisofs buffer size does not respect bufsize option

2007-11-14 Thread Miklós Juhász
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dvd+rw-tools

When burning DVDs, growisofs is not honoring the --use-the-force-luke=bufsize:X
option, allocating an internal ring buffer ridiculously small, so that DVD
burning is affected by frequent buffer underruns (the speed drops from 8x to as
low as 2x).
The ring buffer is not of constant size: it varies for each burn, even though
k3b informs -use-the-force-luke=bufsize:128M

I checked the code myself and found out that from version 7 growisofs
tries limit the buffer size to a maximum of 1/4 of the RAM. In the
source _SC_AVPHYS_PAGES returns the number of available, really free
memory pages, not the total number of memory pages. Linux tends to use
all available memory with buffers and cache, and keep just a bare
minimum of free pages during normal use.

So, the code cuts the size of the buffer in half again and again until
it is less or equal to 1/4 size of free memory (usually a few MB, 32 or
64 MB at most).

Andy Polyakov (author of growisofs) did not answer my e-mail last year
so I patched growisofs myself. Later Fedora applied the same patch I did
before.

I simply replaced _SC_AVPHYS_PAGES with _SC_PHYS_PAGES (total number of
pages of physical memory in system). I have been using this modified
growisofs for a year and no problem arised at all. It might have been a
typo only...

[Bug 194624] Re: checkbox and radiobox rendering issue

2008-04-04 Thread Miklós Juhász
A workaround is to go to System Settings/Appearance/GTK Styles and fonts
and Set: Use another style - QtCurve. This eliminates the firefox
rendering bug and many other issues like sliders are chopped off at the
bottom, etc.

As far as I understand the problem is that Hardy uses QtCurve as the
default KDE theme. However Hardy does not use QtCurve's Gtk2 engine,
preferring to style Gtk2 apps via the Qt engine. QtCurve doesn't look
that great when done this way - certainly nowhere near as good as its
native Gtk2 port.

For more information, see this thread on Kubuntu-devel list:
