This seems simple, doesn't it? The dvb-apps guys have removed all but 754167000 from the initial scan file. The question is "Why is `scan` tuning to 84200 when it's not in the initial scan file?" In short, my uk-Mendip file only contains tuning information for 754167000. What about yours? I'm using Intrepid. The output from the scan command above would indicate that when you scanned, it tuned to more than 754167000. Why did it do that? Did you use a different file for the scan command? I think that I can see what the issue is. It appears that Me TV's scanner is not parsing the Network Information Table (NIT). I haven't implemented it because we don't think that we use it here in Australia so I can't develop for it. Hi Roman, Me TV no longer supports setting the window position at startup, to replicate this feature you should configure your window manager to do so. You are correct in raising this as a bug because I think that it was supposed to work in 0.5.X but the newer versions do not implement an initial window geometry feature so I can see no other way to deal with this but to set it to invalid. To be clear, your bug is actually a valid issue but I can't set its state to "Will not fix" which is more accurate. As for your current situation, you've done the only thing that would work i.e. setting values manually. Thanks for working that out. I suggest 2 things to you: * If you have compiz enabled then disable it. Some of the video APIs (xv, xshm, opengl) have issues drawing to a compiz enabled screen depending on your video driver. I recommend "xshm" to get started. * Try switching the video driver in the Me TV preferences dialog. Ok, now this is interesting. It seems that `scan` is replacing the second FEC rate with 'AUTO' even though the initial scan file says 'NONE'. Please make a copy of your initial scan file (de-Hannover) in your home directory and change the 'NONE' values to 'AUTO', then use that file to scan in Me TV. I think that the channel names should be unique. Where did you get that channels.conf file from? I think that it's used the broadcasters/network/transponder name rather than the service name. I wonder if the transponder at 47400 is reporting services for the transponder at 55400. Do you know if this happens where you are? This might be observed if you see duplicate service names in the scan results. I ask you to -v the application and attach the result from a scan and confirm if duplicate services exist. Do you have an antenna? I think that you might be DVB-T, assuming that you are French. I put that setting back to 5 seconds instead of 2 seconds. Hope that helps in the next release. There's still a major issue with data storage. New added scheduled recordings seem to clobber old ones, same with channels. When I sort that out, I'll release the next version. 0.8.7 is really stable, 0.8.8-0.8.9 are really only trying to resolve that performance issue in Jaunty's sqlite version. If you're having issues, go back to 0.8.7, I know that it can lock up for 2 minutes at a time but it really should be an initial thing as it saves the EPG events. I really don't think that libsqlite2-dev will help. The actions that you have described are king of normal, 10 seconds is a bit slow but maybe you have more events. Ok, the issue is obvious, there's a "/" in filename, I think that it's coming from the channel name. Are you telling me that all your channels are labeled this way. I've just installed Jaunty on 2 computers with 2 different DVB devices and tried it without issue. Admittedly there was a spot where the UI did not respond for 5-10 seconds, but that is to be expected and should be a one-off. Now, I would still like to remove this issue because I think I will solve another 2 outstanding bugs at the same time. The major database access functions are: 1. EPG Thread (write) 2. EPG UI (read) 3. Scheduled recording (write) 4. Scheduled recording check (read) I can only assume that the issue is contention between 1 and 2. Now, I would like to propose and implement a solution if people are prepared to build and test it from source, preferably the bzr repository. Let me know if you are interested. Let me explain what I think the issue is, the UI is locking up while it tries to update the EPG UI because it happens within a GDK lock (blocking all other UI updates). The EPG UI is taking a long time to draw because it's waiting for EPG events to be written, so the whole UI locks up. My solution, make the EPG UI DB call fail silently if the database is busy and let it try again a second later, it's not critical if the events don't appear immediately when updating the UI. Ok, I DO have this issue on mt laptop and it IS sqlite on Jaunty, Thanks for your patience, I can now replicate this issue. It takes about 500 ms to save a single record to the database. If there are 100 events and many event texts then we have an issue. I've just checked in a version that saves the EPG data in the EPG event thread rather than in the main GTK thread. To test, please remove the ~/.me-tv/me-tv.db and run Me TV. Scott is usually pretty quick at packaging the pre-release versions in his PPA [0]. If you can't be bothered building it yourself you might find that he has a version available shortly. I need to know if this works and I'm on the right track so please report back your findings.
