[Bug 567465] Re: vino kills gnome-panel when "Allow other users to view your desktop" deselected
I'm having problem fetching package vino with debug symbols along the steps from the wiki Sebastien has provided, Err http://ddebs.ubuntu.com lucid-security/main Packages 404 Not Found Therefore the backtrace is useless. What's more, I'm having problems with tracing the problem - vino doesn't crash when it kills gnome-panel, and when I attached gdb to gnome-panel, it said that program exited normally. This seems to be a tough bug for a novice debugger. If there's a need, I can share my desktop with a trusted developer to see into the problem (and no, I don't do that usually ;) but this is way to hard to trace for me). === ! === Important notice: before deselecting "Allow users to view your desktop" the lower box "Allow other users to control ..." has to be selected. ** Description changed: current build number: 20 device name: krillin channel: ubuntu-touch/stable/bq-aquaris.en alias: ubuntu-touch/ubuntu-rtm/14.09 last update: 2015-03-30 10:20:33 version version: 20 version ubuntu: 20150312 version device: 20150310-3201c0a version custom: 20150216-561-29-186 Steps to reproduce: - Set up U1 account - Open Settings > About this phone - Press "Check for updates" Expected: - List of updates loads and I can select which to install Actual: - List of updates seems to load for a moment, shows up for a fraction of a second, and page goes blank (besides the header). Also, it's not responsive, you can't go back. There are no crash files logged for this. + + Note that, in contrast, Settings > Updates works as expected. + + Perhaps this is because 'About this phone' > Updates is supposed to only + show OTA updates, and currently there are none? If so, it should clearly + say 'No updates' - but the fact you can't effectively press back + (frozen) does indicate some sort of bug/crash nevertheless. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1438633 Title: Updates page loads and immediately goes blank To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+bug/1438633/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1500934] [NEW] The new AdaptivePageLayout should allow replacing primaryPage
Public bug reported: The new AdaptivePageLayout does not allow replacing of the primaryPage. Simplest use case: primaryPage: isSignedIn ? masterPage : signInPage I've explained in more detail in the #sdk channel, it seems I have convinced two developers the limitation of not allowing to replace the primaryPage now seems arbitrary. [Bug 1507510] Re: Push notifications missing when app in foreground, but device locked
Thank you for looking into this XiaoGuo. I will elaborate further on your comment, as it seems some important details seem to be missing. > When the app is in the foreground and press the power button, On the webpage, > just send a message to your client (to the nick). > Then unlock the phone again, you will see that the message comes in and it is > shown there in the app. You will see the message comes in only because you turn the device back on. I saw multiple times (but not always!) the persistent notification would show up only *after* turning the device back on. Which misses the whole point of a notification concept. Essentially, you're seeing the message show up in the app only because you just turned the device on. > However, the problem is that there is no indication of the LED flashing or sound for the newly received notification. There's no sound or LED or, occasionally, even no persistent notification for the newly received notification. When I tested this, I saw two different cases: [before: device off, message sent, device stays silent even though it did receive a notification] - I turn the device back on, and the notification immediately shows up (and is audible + LED) - I turn the device back on, and there is even NO persistent notification (the one at the top), which is even more serious To summarize: app in foreground && screen off == no audio/LED, possibly not even a persistent notification once screen is back on -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1507510 Title: Push notifications missing when app in foreground, but device locked To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1507510/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1507510] Re: Push notifications missing when app in foreground, but device locked
PS When I mention lack of persistent notification, I mean I would expect the notification to show up (or at least highlight the messaging indicator) even though the app is theoretically in foreground, but behind the screen lock. I am aware that when the screen is on and the app is in foreground, there would be no notification, but the use case covered by this bug is real. ** Description changed: This bug has been reproduced with Telegram (both v1 and alpha2 v2), but would affect any app that makes use of our push API. Prerequisite: - application is in foreground - power button pressed, screen is off Action: - send a message to device Expected: - notification arrives (led, sound, notification visible at top after power button pressed) Actual: - - no notification (no led, no sound, not even a notification) + - no notification (no led, no sound, not even a persistent notification*) + * I would expect to see a notification even though the app is in + foreground, but behind the lock screen. I believe I may have found the source of the problem. When the scope is aggregated, the author assumed they can access results[0], which may not be true if: 1) the user is signed in 2) but has no messages whatsoever That'd mean the scope would crash for all users, who have set up Telegram account, but not really used it. [Bug 1472755] Re: corrupted double-linked list probably cause by telegram scope
You're a rockstar Michi, thank you for all this. We don't have mock data for this purpose, but you could run Telegram off this branch (README.md will quickly tell you how to, basically ./setup.sh -t desktop -d && ./setup.sh -t desktop -b will download deps and build it for you). The branch is a quite fresh contribution, but should at least allow you to sign in to Telegram, which would populate the database with your current Tg data. In turn, the scope should surface this data, and hopefully be more representative of a more natural use case (as opposed to being empty). Talked on IRC, but for the record: While the app uses two dependencies, these don't use boost - and the scope uses none of those altogether. [Bug 1517553] Re: Push Notifications Delayed or Missing
Supposedly there have been some issues on Telegram end, and they have been addressed this last Sunday. I'm getting notifications now reliaby for Telegram, but some users (e.g. mzanetti) still reports ~5 min delays. I have requested further feedback on Telegram and inquired whether we should keep digging, or it's still something on their end. Essentially: a) starting a new landscape app will flip to landscape mode (if shell was i portrait) but b) switching to (focusing) an already open landscape app will not (shell stays in portrait) Generalizing a bit, I also believe orientation requested in the .desktop file should be ignored (at least to some degree?) in windowed mode. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1515977 Title: Nexus4 Shell rotates inappropriately in windowed mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/avila/+bug/1515977/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1517553] Re: Push Notifications Delayed or Missing
Telegram app is not smart enough (though current source could enable adding this behavior) to figure it should not show notifications for messages that have been already read. This is usually fine if notifications arrive properly (usually only by accident you could open Telegram, read a just-received message [for which you didn't see a notification], and close Telegram *before* the push notification arrives). But it's not fine when push messages are delayed, in which case it's possible to notice this behavior. "I randomly receive those messages (already read) notification. Some message have then delayed notification, some message no notification at all." You "randomly" receive 'already read' message notifications depending on when they've been sent and if you've read them *and* backgrounded or killed the Telegram app. Notification may arrive delayed (for which the problem can be anywhere between Telegram itself, through our push infrastructure, to push daemon on the device), but it would be good to understand if, in fact, some message notifications don't arrive at all, or you just happen to foreground Telegram when you expect those notifications. You may know this, but for clarification I'll state that notifications will not show when Telegram is in foreground* (which means if some arrive, and you foreground Telegram, the following ones won't show). * with the exception of bug #1515344 -- I thought originally I filed the bug, but essentially the problem was then the phone is locked *AND* the app (for which notifications you expect) is in foreground. In this specific case, they would not show/blip/arrive. If the phone was locked, but the app was not in foreground, I think it worked fine. Anyway, just providing as much details as I can. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1517553 Title: Push Notifications Delayed or Missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1517553/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1397396] Re: Badge counts not keeping sync with app/notifications
Hi Pat, We have a fix for this. We plan to release on Monday (Tuesday the latest?) - depending on what's the deadline for the final tarball. I know it's late, but I assure you I'm completely dedicated to this (and a stable release). For this next release, I'm actively working on a fix for another more serious bug [1], which I'm considering a blocker (thus working over the weekend). I have the fix, but we have a crash deep in the source when the app is opened multiple times from the notifications (and from the notifications only, not from the launcher). In the worst case, we'll land the fix for this bug, and trim the mentioned [1] so that the app launches, but does not open a dedicated dialog (which is a workaround I would very much prefer to avoid). [Bug 1397396] Re: Badge counts not keeping sync with app/notifications
Forgot to say - yes, we'll want to release a click to the custom tarball. Perhaps by the end of the day. (That depends if we have some time tomorrow for other fixes). ** Changed in: libqtelegram Status: In Progress => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1397396 Title: Badge counts not keeping sync with app/notifications To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1397396/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1397396] Re: Badge counts not keeping sync with app/notifications
For now, we'll zero the badge counter when the app is launched. We'll later improve this to reflect the actual unread messages count as the user reads through them in the app (and perhaps has some still left to read). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1397396 Title: Badge counts not keeping sync with app/notifications To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1397396/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1394734] Re: registerApp is called on UI thread
** Description changed: + Steps to reproduce: + - Flash krillin + - Launch Telegram + - Sign in + + What should happen: + - The chat list should be populated almost instantly (depending on connection) + + What actually happens: + - "No chats" is displayed, sometimes for as long as 5-8 seconds, and only then the data appears. Problem persists over app launches (not just initial sign in), so kill and re-launch to reproduce again. + + Problem: + Ubuntu Push Client does a synchronous registration call, blocking the UI thread (on which the component is instantiated). + + --- More details: + Instantiation of a PushClient component (even through a Loader) is causing a visible, 1-1.4 second delay in Telegram app launch, because setting appId from QML triggers a synchronous call to registerApp, that does a synchronous dbus call (which in turn probably does networking for that matter). I measured times of code execution of different parts of Telegram and found that it is the instantiation of PushClient that causes the visible short freeze when starting the app. I also commented the "appId: ..." line and confirmed the delay was no longer visible, which seems to support my thesis. http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-push-hackers/ubuntu-push- qml/rtm/view/head:/src/Ubuntu/PushNotifications/pushclient.h#L38 Q_PROPERTY(QString appId WRITE registerApp READ getAppId NOTIFY appIdChanged); when appId is set, this invokes registerApp, which contains the following code: - // Register to the push client - QDBusMessage message = QDBusMessage::createMethodCall(PUSH_SERVICE, register_path , PUSH_IFACE, "Register"); - message << appId; - QDBusMessage token = bus.call(message); + // Register to the push client + QDBusMessage message = QDBusMessage::createMethodCall(PUSH_SERVICE, register_path , PUSH_IFACE, "Register"); + message << appId; + QDBusMessage token = bus.call(message); [...] - this->token = token.arguments()[0].toStringList()[0]; + this->token = token.arguments()[0].toStringList()[0]; which looks like blocking code. I'm marking this as Critical, as it affects Telegram, but feel free to consult the urgency with victorp. I'm rather confident he will support that importance. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1394734 Title: registerApp is called on UI thread To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1394734/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
