I confirm this, update from the previous release (clean install). Workaround is to unplug and plug the affected usb mouse again, which is then detected. Actually, googling reveals this affects quite a lot of people. I'm unable to ssh to my machine because it's desktop computer and when I use it I do not have physical access to any other machine (I will be able to verify it next week, though). But... This is the same issue: screen+keyboard freezes, yet e.g. skype works so if I'm connected and speak with someone, I still hear him, can speak, etc Just keyboard+screen is hung. Btw. I did not experience it on the previous LTS, which shipped with 2.6.x kernel. This feature arrived with kernel from the latest LTS. Please search for kernel panics in kern.log. Dell Inspiron 1520 and Ubuntu 12.04. Upgraded from previous LTS where it worked. Shutdown isn't working. Nvidia here, I will not remove it as I don't believe there is a relationship - it may only be a workaround. I intend to stay on this LTS. I refuse to change any BIOS settings as it worked previously. For me works an USB extension cable - the plug is close to the keyboard (which is on PS/2, great!) and makes plug/unpluging more easy. Unfortunately the problem persist.
