I have the exact same Problem. Connecting my external Monitor via VGA works just fine. When I connect it via HDMI and set the resolution to 1680x1050 there is a big black bar on the left. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 (with Intel GM965) attached to an Samsung Syncmaster T220HD. I attached all sorts of logs/files that I thought could help. [Bug 184441] Nautilus not responding when browsing soundfiles
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu Gutsy, when browsing files for a while, especially when marking some files and dragging them around the nautilus window becomes unresponsive. It takes a few seconds, then it responds again. It seems that this only happens when there are Soundfiles ( OGG or MP3 ) are in that folder. If I should attach any logfiles I'd be glad to help. Here is a workaround: Simply disable the preview for soundfiles in Nautilus options. [Bug 182041] DVD RW drive not recognized / working under Gutsy
Public bug reported: I can neither mount or burn CDs oder DVDs under Gutsy Gibbon. Clicking on 'Comuter' and 'CD-ROM 1' gives me an error 'mount: special device /dev/scd0 does not exist '. I tried, linke mentioned in other bug reports to alter my /etc/modules my adding libata, ata_piix, ide_generic. Didn't work. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this? I can confirm this on just-installed Lucid Lynx RC. Affects Eclipse as well as RSSOwl (which uses the Eclipse Toolkit AFAIK). Removing the package at-spi fixed the issue for me.
