[Bug 1454112] Re: Group permissions not respected with "--manage-gids" enabled

2016-05-07 Thread Marko Martinović
Can confirm with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Workaround was to disable -manage-
gids option (in /etc/default/nfs-kernel-server) but something is clearly
broken.

[Bug 996738] [NEW] Java applications menu bar has wrong font color

2012-05-08 Thread Marko Martinović
Public bug reported:

On Xubuntu 12.04 when Greybird theme is active in Xfce Settings manager
-> Appearance all Java based applications have menu bar with wrong font
color (white font color on gray background). Expected would be that font
color is dark like in all GTK and Qt applications. This has been tested
with OpenJDK from repositories and Sun Java 1.6 update 32. Please see
attached screenshot of NetBeans IDE interface.

Output of "lsb_release -rd":

[Bug 581838] Re: Manually created menu item in Gnome disappears from Gnome, Ubuntu 10.04 (64 bit).after reboot

2012-05-09 Thread Marko Martinović
Just to point out that mentioned workaround doesn't work on some systems
because LANG environment variable has uppercase letters on UTF8 part and
menu cache file has lowercase letters in UTF8 part. For example:

desktop.${LANG}.cache

translates into:

desktop.en_US.UTF-8.cache

and system expects:

desktop.en_US.utf8.cache

cache file name (notice UTF8 and utf8 part).

It is best to manually go to /usr/share/applications/ and to look for
cache file to be sure about cache file name and to adjust part of
workaround command accordingly, at least thats what I had to do on my
lucid 32 bit.

2011-12-17 Thread Marko Martinović
I can also confirm on Lucid Lynx. Removing ./pulse solves until reboot,
adding tsched=0 fixes only vlc not skype. For my system removing "rtkit"
package solves vlc, skype and intermediate bootup freezes. Canonical
leave Unity aside who needs it. We need sound on out PCs. Cheers!

report any bugs here:

Hi guys, I've had my HP Compaq CQ56 freezing when I've enabled
pcie_aspm=force so you can test using sysfs to check would enabling it
make problems before enabling pcie_aspm=force for good like I've wrote
here:

My findings on my old ASUS laptop are that there is a slight increase in
battery life but not near to Lucid and its 2.6.32 kernel :(

[Bug 459445] Re: no sound // 3:3:1: cannot set freq 16000 to ep 0x86

2010-10-18 Thread Marko Martinović
Guys i wrote comment #14. I made bash script as a workaround for this
problem and posted link to my workaround. Link in comment #16 is not
valid so I will put valid link again:
http://www.techytalk.co.cc/2010/07/logitech-e3500-webcam-and-cannot-set-
freq-16000-to-ep-0x86/

My script starts at the end of boot process and checks last 30 lines of
/var/log/kern.log. If it founds more than 3 occurrences of “cannot set
freq 16000 to ep 0×86″ it removes kernel module snd-usb-audio form
kernel and plugs it back again. Script can be modified for your error
that pops up in kern.log and you can put your solution if removing snd-
usb-audio doesn't work.

This problem should really get some attention. We don't need new theme
every Ubuntu release or new set of icons. We need our hardware to work.

Yes. My dirty script rmmod-s and modprobe-s snd-usb-audio module when it
detects troubles and then things work again, until system restart.
Without snd-usb-audio users webcam mic is not working. In fact any usb
audio device won't work if you blacklist snd-usb-audio. That is like
healing sick patient by killing him ;) But if someone has a lot of
problems with usb device blacklisting faulty module is an option.
