[Bug 295327] [NEW] Intel X4500HD ghost screen detected
Public bug reported: I am running a system76 pamp4i and by default a screen on the HDMI-2 port is detected but the is no screen plugged in and there never was. this is the output of xrandr: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 800, maximum 2640 x 1568 LVDS connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 331mm x 207mm 1280x800 59.9*+ 1024x768 60.0 800x60060.3 640x48059.9 HDMI-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) HDMI-2 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 1360x768 59.8 1152x864 60.0 1024x768 60.0 800x60060.3 640x48059.9 This causes an annoying problem for the unknowing user because by default the system tries to clone the two screens and adjusts the maximum resolution to the resolution of the ghost screen so you can't get an aspect ratio of 16:10 corresponding to the man laptop LCD. This seems to be a bug in xserver-xorg-video-intel. [Bug 237512] [NEW] iwl3945 : wireless doesn't work at all
Public bug reported: I have a Toshiba satellite A100 and the wireless network adapter doesn't work at all with hardy. The problem occurs with any of the kernel-image- generic packages released since hardy. It worked with the old kernel 2.6.24-14-generic and the ipw3945 proprietary drivers. This bug seems to be related to Bug # 193970 but in my case the state of the kill switch doesn't make any difference( the network just never works). The error message shows when I dmesg | grep 3945 : [ 41.135877] iwl3945: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG/BG Network Connection driver for Linux, 1.2.0 [ 41.135882] iwl3945: Copyright(c) 2003-2007 Intel Corporation [ 41.136067] iwl3945: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 3945BG Network Connection [ 44.469823] iwl3945: Tunable channels: 11 802.11bg, 0 802.11a channels [ 44.470926] wmaster0: Selected rate control algorithm 'iwl-3945-rs' [ 52.001142] iwl3945: Microcode SW error detected. [Bug 185470] Re: iwl3945 not functioning : microcode error
This bug seems to have been reported on the bugzilla mailing list of intellinuxwireless (http://www.intellinuxwireless.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1593). It seems no progress has been done on this bug since about two months. Maybe someone on the kernel team could work with the intellinuxwireless team to fix this bug as soon as possible. Also I suggest a change in the priority of the bug to critical since my wireless network doesn't work at all with a fresh intall of hardy. [Bug 185470] Re: iwl3945 not functioning : microcode error
sorry my mistake I hadn't seen the remote bug watch section. Good work on that Sam. I myself just tried creating the file /etc/modprobe.d/iwl3945 with the content mentioned above and it worked. As I understand it, it's only a temporary fix until bug is fixed at the root (am I right about that?). In any case since the fix works so can it be included in the default package even if it is temporary. It would at least keep people new to linux from switching back to windows (as what almost happened with my girlfriend since it is her laptop on with the wireless adapter doesn't work). I am sure it would be greatly appreciated by many people. Thanks a lot for your great work. -- iwl3945 not functioning : microcode error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/185470 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 199078] Re: amsn/wish8.5 really high CPU when going through padsp
I have seen this problem reported elsewhere on the net and the general solution is to set paplay as the default audio player in amsn. However the videoconferencing module uses dsp exclusively so this solution alone is not an option. Plus I think padsp has high cpu usage with other application. It would be a good idea to run some tests on padsp with other applications. ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- amsn/wish8.5 really high CPU when going through padsp https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199078 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

it seems the high cpu usage is caused by padsp ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: amsn => pulseaudio -- amsn/wish8.5 really high CPU when going through padsp https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199078 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 238061] [NEW] time: Time does not parse its parameters
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: time This is a cut and paste from a bug reported on the debian bug tracking system. since this bug hasn't been fixed in about one year and is also present in ubuntu, I am reporting it here. Maybe someone here will know how to fix it. From: Martin Jambor <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Debian Bug Tracking System <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: time: Time does not parse its parameters Date: Wed, 20 Sep 2006 16:21:02 +0200 Package: time Version: 1.7-21 Severity: important Time does not parse its own parameters and treats everything on the command line like the program it should run and its parameters. For example the following works: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/tmp/randwrite$ time bash < /dev/null real0m0.005s user0m0.000s sys 0m0.004s But this does not: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/tmp time -f "%e" bash < /dev/null bash: -f: command not found real0m0.002s user0m0.000s sys 0m0.000s OTOH, I suspect this might be a bash issue because I have just found out that /usr/bin/time works as expected. [Bug 238061] Re: time: Time does not parse its parameters
You can read the debian bug report page for details. But a simple workaround is to use the command "/usr/bin/time" instead of just "time". If it is not corrected, it would at least be nice to mention this in the man page. -- time: Time does not parse its parameters https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238061 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
