[Bug 1026058] Re: Applications Menu .desktop item with category Electronics creates an uneditable sub-menu Electronics

2012-10-28 Thread Marcel Admiraal

for the record, I've attached the desktop file, which was causing the
problem.

[Bug 1026058] Re: Applications Menu .desktop item with category Electronics creates an uneditable sub-menu Electronics

2012-10-28 Thread Marcel Admiraal
Actually, I've just had another look and this bug is still reproducible;
however it highlights another problem:
If you delete all the files in ~/.config/menus and ~/.local/share/applications
running the menu editor and making any change will create a new
~/.config/menus/applications.menu file with the changes, but these changes are
reversed or rather ignored, because the filename is wrong.
Manually renaming ~/.config/menus/applications.menu to xfce-applications.menu
results in the changes being applied, but now the submenu Electronics doesn't
appear in the menu editor, so a Desktop file with Category Electronics, as for
example the one attached in my previous post, cannot, for example, be removed
from the Electronics submenu.
Note, you can manually copy and edit a desktop file in
~/.local/share/applications (delete the Electonics entry under Categories) to
remove it from the Electronics submenu.
BTW: If you click the help button on the menu editor you get a Document Not
Found: The URI ‘ghelp:user-guide?menu-editor#menu-editor’ does not point to a
valid page.

[Bug 1069207] Re: Unable to edit or add items to main menu

I've found that the changes are saved in
~/.config/menus/applications.menu, which is ignored by xfce. Renaming
the file to xfce-applications.menu applies the changes -- a workaround.

[Bug 1025573] [NEW] JRE crashes when running java application within an Android project

2012-07-17 Thread Marcel Admiraal
Public bug reported:

Within Eclipse, JRE will crash if I try run any java application class
created within an Android project.

To recreate the problem:
- Within Eclipse (with Android SDK and ADT plugins installed), create a new
Android Application project (give it a name, but otherwise keep all the
defaults; run it as Android Application to confirm it works);
- Within the project create a new Java class and make it runnable (just give it
a name and check create public static void main(String[] args) stub);
- Run (the project or the file) as Java Application.

Note it works fine if created in a Java Application project.

[Bug 1026058] [NEW] Applications Menu .desktop item with category Electronics creates an uneditable sub-menu Electronics

2012-07-18 Thread Marcel Admiraal
Public bug reported:

The Electronics sub-menu is not part of the current xfce-panel
applications menu, but any .desktop file with Category Electronics will
result in the Electronics sub-menu being displayed.

The problem is that this sub-menu cannot be edited (hidden or moved for
example) (without editing the .desktop file), because as far as the
current xfce-applications.menu file is concerned it doesn't (shouldn't)
exist.

To reproduce the problem simply add Category=Electronics to any .desktop
file.

[Bug 1026058] Re: Applications Menu .desktop item with category Electronics creates an uneditable sub-menu Electronics

2012-11-03 Thread Marcel Admiraal
Sorry, maybe I'm just not making myself clear.
If you install Arduino, it shows up on the panel under both Development and
Electronics.
But in the menu editor it only appears under Development (there is no
Electronics submenu).
I've attached an image of the two to show what I mean.

menu editor"

[Bug 662055] Re: Evolution 2.30.3 calendar hangs

2010-10-18 Thread Marcel Admiraal
This problem has stopped occurring; so I assume there is little point in doing
a backtrace. I think it might have been related to a problem with the Exchange
connector, which I've logged separately (662072), because deleting and
recreating the Exchange connection appears to have brought my calendar back
(but I still cannot access my Exchange mailbox).
If the problem comes back, I'll do a backtrace and update this bug.

[Bug 615881] [NEW] Busy application can hang all windows

2010-08-10 Thread Marcel Admiraal
Public bug reported:

A busy application can hang all the other windows; so it's impossible to
do anything including closing the busy application; although I am still
able to login into another terminal on the same machine.

I've been able to reproduce this problem on Mandriva; so it's not
specific to Ubuntu, but I'm reporting it here, because my main system is
Ubuntu.

I've created a simple java application to demonstrate this problem:

import java.awt.EventQueue;
import javax.swing.*;

public class Hang {
public static void main(String[] args) {
JFrame frame = new JFrame();
final JComboBox comboBox = new JComboBox();
comboBox.insertItemAt(1, 0);
frame.add(comboBox);
frame.pack();
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
frame.setVisible(true);
while (true)
EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
@Override public void run() {
comboBox.showPopup();
}
});
}
}

I've reproduced this problem with both the Sun and Open versions of the
JDK and JRE. I can reproduce the problem with both Gnome and KDE, but
I'm not able to reproduce it on a Microsoft Windows machine so I'm
assuming it's not a Java specific issue, but even if it was, a JVM
shouldn't be able to hang all other windows.
