[Bug 275279] Re: Intel 4965 wireless can't see wifi channels 12 and 13
Dave's comment above fixed my problem. I have an Acer 2483 TravelMate laptop with an Atheros wireless chipset. Before I added the "options" line above to /etc/modprobe.d/options (and re-booted), my wifi only saw 11 channels. But now it sees 13. st...@steve-laptop:~$ iwlist wlan0 channel wlan0 13 channels in total; available frequencies : Channel 01 : 2.412 GHz Channel 02 : 2.417 GHz Channel 03 : 2.422 GHz Channel 04 : 2.427 GHz Channel 05 : 2.432 GHz Channel 06 : 2.437 GHz Channel 07 : 2.442 GHz Channel 08 : 2.447 GHz Channel 09 : 2.452 GHz Channel 10 : 2.457 GHz Channel 11 : 2.462 GHz Channel 12 : 2.467 GHz Channel 13 : 2.472 GHz Current Frequency=2.472 GHz (Channel 13) My AP is on Channel 13 and was not visible prior to this change. Now, I can connect to the same AP with no problems (D-Link DI-624S set to "auto" with respect to channels). -- Intel 4965 wireless can't see wifi channels 12 and 13 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/275279 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

...and users in Australia and New Zealand. These days, for global standards, "European" means pretty much everyone outside North America. The US tends to do its own thing and everyone else does the OTHER thing. In the case of frequencies, the US reserved many frequencies for military use that are open frequencies everywhere else. This is why North American cell phones were for years different to everyone else's cell phones. [Bug 134660] Re: Ralink rt2400/rt2500 does not work properly in Gutsy.
I followed the development of the rt2400/802.11b wireless drivers for a couple of years. Last I heard the drivers for the RaLink RT2400 did not work with the SMP version of any kernel and only worked with the UNI version of the kernel. Gutsy installs the SMP version of the kernel with no facility I can find to replace it with the uni kernel without connecting to the Net.so I was screwed and had to get rid of Gutsy. Xandros 4.0 includes/d both SMP and UNI versions of the kernel and one could switch between the two without having to download anything. I'd rather get a good 802.11g wireless card that works well with Linux..but I have had to resort increasingly to Windows both for wireless networking and for video capture and processing. Having been on Linux exclusively for the past 6 years, moving back to Windows has been a disappointment. I just don't have time to frig around with Linux any more. ...and this issue is just one more example. -- Ralink rt2400/rt2500 does not work properly in Gutsy. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134660 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 815580] [NEW] Package fails to install and no information is provided
Public bug reported: I am trying to install Adobe Flash plugin via Ubuntu Software Center. I accept the partner source. It reports the installation as in progress in the left sidebar. That disappears. There is no record of this install attempt in History in any context. Flash doesn't work. It apparently wasn't successful, but I'm left to wonder why. If the install failed or succeeded, I should be told and the outcome logged, either way. As it stands there is nothing.
