[Bug 128798] Can't connect to Network shares via fstab

2007-07-27 Thread Leona
Public bug reported:

I did search for this, even posted on forums, but I can't find a fix so
assuming this is a bug.

I have both Ubuntu 6.06 LTS and 7.04 and both have this problem.

I'm trying to connect my linux boxes to my Windows file server.

I can do this at the cmd line with no problem, but it refuses to work
when I put the line in /etc/fstab Why?

Ubuntu forum thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=268247
sudo mount //192.168.1.1/fileshare /home/leona/network -o
username=files,password=xxx,fmask=777,dmask=777
Works
but
//192.168.1.1/fileshare  /home/leona/network/smbfs
username=files,password=xxx,gid=100,uid=1000,fmask=777,dmask=777   0
Dones't

On a Suse box this works, but not on Ubuntu, is this a bug?

At the moment I'm using a workaround by triggering a script on startup
to mount the connections, but why can't I do this in fstab?

I thought it might be fixed in 7.04, but no I get the same problem.

Thanks.

2007-07-30 Thread Leona
is "pass" different to "password" cos that is on the bug report,

According to this guide
http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Dapper#How_to_mount_network_folders_on_boot-up.2C_and_allow_all_users_to_read
This is the way I'm doing it.

2007-08-30 Thread Leona
Yep, if I unmount it, and remount it using the cmd you gave, it does remount
it,
Talking to a few of my more knowledgeable friends, they seem to think it could
be the fstab is read before a network connection is established, could this be
right? Maybe Suse brought things up in a different order, hence this worked
with that distro.

The "alt and drag" worked for Drapper and Fiesty, but I noticed this No
Longer Works for Gusty, I can't drag the dialog past the taskbar
anymore. Making adding contacts in Thunderbird again very tricky.

[Bug 115484] Create contact screen to large for display

2007-05-18 Thread leona
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

I am visually impaired so I use a res of 1024x780 with large (16pt) fonts,
works well for me.
I was just using thunderbird and I needed to add a contact, the contact screen
comes up, but the OK and Cancel buttons are off the bottom of the screen, as is
a good part of the last lot of fields.
Just thought I'm mention it, maybe someone to pass that into along to the
mozila devs or something?
I noticed you can't drag a dialogue box up pass the 'taskbar' like you can in
windows, so there is no way to access these buttons.
thankfully just pressing enter is ok, but still annoying.
Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, Thunderbird 1.5.0.10

[Bug 115484] Re: Create contact screen to large for display

2007-05-28 Thread Leona
arr, thanks yes holding the alt key did work so you can't drag it up,
its a good workaround. Is there anyway I can feed this to someone who
might be working on this to ask them to see if they could shorten the
dialog box maybe add an extra tab for address dettails rather than
making it longer?

thanks.

how to turn it off, which fixed that, but now every time I press Caps

[Bug 1767648] Re: Top bar and shell dialogs are not displayed properly when zoom is enabled

2018-12-18 Thread Leona
Hi
I have a visual impairment which requires me to use the magnification
accessibility extension.
I have 2 machines, my desktop currently running Mint 18.3 and my laptop (Acer
Switch Alpha 12) running Ubuntu 18.04

I have noticed the bug as reported here as being the same one that I
experience on the laptop running gnome.

This doesn't happen in Mint (different desktop, Cinemon not gnome).
I had used previous versions of the Gnome variant of Ubuntu 15.10 and up before
and saw this happening on them, I was hoping this issue would be fixed by now.

This problem means I'm unable to use my laptop

Thanks
Leona.

[Bug 577936] Re: Lockup on Log out, switch user

2010-09-12 Thread Leona
I solved this on my machine by,
Go to the System menu, then Administration and Hardware Drivers
Select the latest version (recommended) nvidia driver. (bottom option)
Let it download, select apply and restart.
This should install a later version eg 195, which seems to resolve the problem.
Hope this helps.

[Bug 573101] Re: No video signal after "Log out" in gnome when multiple users

2010-09-13 Thread Leona
@Igor Wojnicki
I got 195 when I switched the driver from 173 to 'latest version' in the
hardware driver dialogue, (under the Administration menu) doing that,
downloaded and installed the driver itself, you then press Activate, then
restart your computer.
You can then check the version by opening the terminal and typing
'nvidia-settings'. I does not appear as 195 in the drivers dialogue, it just
shows as 'latest version' (why they couldn't add the version number here is
beyond me).

There is no need to look into the ubuntu repos, I can only assume its
downloaded from a Nvidia repo, not Ubuntu's? (I'm only guessing here, as
like you say, its not in the Ubuntu ones).

Hope this helps.

[Bug 1935083] [NEW] Universal Access / Magnification / Zoom tracking problem

2021-07-08 Thread Leona Devon
Public bug reported:

Hi there.

background:
I have a visual disability so I use the zoom / magnifier feature.
Problem:
Firstly, if on a dialogue screen, for example settings, and you moved the
mouse, to view another part of the box, t would snap back to the centre, it
didn't seem to matter what tracking option I selected, it did the same.
Expectation:
I would expect the zoom area to remain focused on the mouse pointer, unless I
hit a key if focused
on a text box or other action button.

Problem 2:
Another is, when writing in a text box, say like this form, it will track to
the top left of the screen for no good reason, meaning I have to find the mouse
and pull it back again, it will not track back when hitting the keyboard, these
are easy to reproduce and I've made short vids of this happening if that helps
(let me know where to post them if it does help).
Expectation:
Here I would expect the magnifier to centre on the text cursor and move along
with it, unless the mouse point is moved, then move back if a key is pressed
again.

Be great if we can get this bugs squished, let me know what information
you need to help track this problem down.

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, Universal Access, Magnification turned on, sorry don't
know the package name.

Thanks.

[Bug 1935083] Re: Universal Access / Magnification / Zoom tracking problem

2024-05-21 Thread Leona Devon
Hi Paul.
Gosh was that almost 4 years ago, well now on 24.04 and yes the problem still
exists, it seems a little more intermittent now, it will start to follow the
text cursor then stop until the arrow key is pressed, then it comes back, then
stops again, then it'll fly off to a random part of the screen and I have to
drag it back again.
Anyway I've run the command you posted, I can't see how to change the status of
this ticket to 'new' however, it's a bit busy, so I've probably not found the
right button get.
Thanks for taking a look at this and helping to improve the accessibility of
this otherwise great OS.

** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => New
