Hi all, I have the same problem. It was on Feisty, I still have it on Gusty with last update. (Evolution 2.12.0, Ubuntu package 2.12.0-0Ubuntu5) It's the first thing I have test on my new Gusty installation. (So I think Gnome / Evolution are clean) To reproduce : Insert image in your message body (in HTML message). Then, right click on it, choose "Style" and "Picture Style" (<- I think, I have french version). Finally, Change "Alignment" from "Bottom" to another like "Middle" or "Top" = Crash ! "I cannot get evolution to crash with the steps you told us, please try to obtain a backtrace http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and attach the file to the bug report." I follow instruction, backtrace is attach to this report. Hope it's correct and useful. "you can attach gdb to evolution-data-server if that's it which is crashing" I don't know how to do that ? I've a already install gdb package of the evolution-data-server. [Bug 1270449] Re: xsane crashed with SIGSEGV
Hi Christopher, unfortunately, I don't use that scanner anymore as I got a new one some month ago and also switched to Debian. Only mouse events work (I can close a window, move the mouse pointer etc..) input_events 4 show that even if nothing appear at screen before unplug/replug, the keyboard events seems well captured but nothing happen. For example, striking "ls -ali" followed by the enter key in a box A terminal session when the issue is on, is well seen by input_events but it is neither applied nor displayed. [Bug 645566] Re: x server with fglrx driver doesn't start anymore
I uninstalled and reinstalled all X11 xorg packages. It din't fix anything. Today I deinstalled the xinit package and fglrx then reinstalled xinit and the ATI package. To try to debug, I launched xinit via strace and I was able to see that my user files .Xauthority .Xauthority-c .Xauthority-l were owned by root and not overwritable by my user processes. So I deleted them. (Probably, I created them when I did some tests) Then I reboot my box to get the traces but this time, it worked ! I still don't know what was the problem. I have some doubts that the xinit package was the cause. The ATI package install/uninstall is may be somewhere a bit different from the fglrx one. May be the Xauthxx files stuck X. I dunno. In doubt, I leave it setted to 755 as it shouldn't hurt but I do not understand what does the trick. [Bug 555169] Re: [lucid] Keyboard and mouse freeze after grub, usb and PS/2 keyboard not working in X (after upgrade? bad-upgrade to lucid)
For some time I have a keyboard issue at boot. It is relatively close to what I've read here. I think this issue appeared after a Lucid Lynx kernel upgrade. Before, it worked fine. Till GDM is displayed, the keyboard works well (usb Dell keyboard). I can enter my login and password. X11 starts and the keyboard is not usable anymore (but the mouse is still working). I have to unplug/replug the usb keyboard and all goes well after that. There are no errors in the kernel or X11 logs. While I believed it was a trouble due to the usb dialog, I raised a ticket to launchpad (Bug #82368) where I found some similar cases. I registers there my logs. Recently I traced my keyboard inputs with "input_events" (from my laptop connected to my machine), and I can see that, even if apparently nothing happen, the data from the keyboard are well transmitted. So the problem is probably not due neither to the usb dialog nor the keyboard itself. It seems due to the fact that when X starts, it reset the keyboard somewhere but it leaves it in a bad state. This issue is permanent for me. If I can do some other test for you to help, I'll do it. Just let me know your needs. (I can use gdb and eventually recompile X11) Is there any documentation that could help me to understand what X11R7 does after startx is launched. [Bug 673931] [NEW] unable to move or delete messages without restarting TDB
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: thunderbird I'm using TDB 3.0.10 with ubuntu 10.04-LTS. For some time, I can't delete any message or move it to another place without restart Thunderbird. When TDB is restarted, it works well some time (less than one half a day) then this issue comes back. All garbages are empty and directories compacted. Junk mails has been removed and their directories emptied-compacted. Auto compact is set to 50k. [Bug 673931] Re: unable to move or delete messages without restarting TDB
One thing more that may help : I use some filters to sort any emails and move them in some other directories When the issue is on then the messages are not filtered anymore and go down within the inbox directory. If I try to force the filter, it doesn't work and the message keep on inbox then, in this case too, I have to restart TDB to get it working. [Bug 645566] [NEW] x server with fglrx driver doesn't start anymore
Public bug reported: I didn't know what was the fglrx package, so when I bought my new video card, I first installed Catalyst 10.8 with Lucid Linx and kernel 2.6.32.23 ... it worked but was a bit buggy (bad 2D display) When the catalyst 10.9 was out, I installed it. It worked too and it fixed the bugs. Then I did a kernel upgrade at 2.6.32-24. Catalyst 10.9 was still working. Later I noticed that the Catalyst control panel was still displaying "Catalyst 10.8". I then tried to reinstall it to see if it fixed this. I was unable to do it due to the bug #642518. Then I applied the patch given by Luc Bruninx (post #14) and rebuild the package. There was no build errors and the patched package was successfully installed but the xserver didn't start anymore. (my own posts #19 to 22) In the boot process, the framebuffer display is ok (with the ubuntu banner and the moving 5 dots), but when it shift to the xserver it hangs. Neither any CtrAltFx key or CtrlAltBackspace key are working. The only way is to electricaly stop the box. I tried many things and in particular, to remove/purge all old fglrx prevously installed following the doc at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/FglrxInteferesWithRadeonDriver. I finally uninstall all and reinstalled the official new package with the new patch 2:8.723.1-0Ubuntu5. I still have the same trouble. So something has probably been removed, or modified when I reinstalled the package (via synaptic). I'm running : Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Release: 10.04 Kernel: Linux phlsys 2.6.32-24-generic #43-Ubuntu SMP Thu Sep 16 14:58:24 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux Video card:ati HD5670 Packages: fglrx: Installé : 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu5 Candidat : 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu5 Table de version : *** 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu5 0 500 ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/ftp.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/restricted Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/restricted Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu3 0 500 ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/ftp.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/restricted Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/restricted Packages fglrx-amdcccle: Installé : 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu5 Candidat : 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu5 Table de version : *** 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu5 0 500 ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/ftp.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/restricted Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/restricted Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu3 0 500 ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/ftp.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/restricted Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/restricted Packages ** Affects: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- x server with fglrx driver doesn't start anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/645566 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 82368] Re: Usb keyboard doesn't work at log on
This trouble is still here. Since a recent update of my ubuntu 10.04 I can see this problem all the time (I never seen it before). My box is a dell/AMD64 using the 64 bit gnu/linux kernel 2.6.32. This problem is 100% repeatable for me too. On every startup (from a cold shutdown), I can use the GDM login box as usual but after that the keyboard becomes unresponsive. To workaround this issue, I have to unplug my usb keyboard, wait some seconds, and reconnect it.
