[Bug 107937] Re: Laptop is hotter with Ubuntu installed

2008-12-16 Thread Kim Chee Leong
Yes can confirm it on a hp nc8430. Laptop is getting way too hot, even
causing hard freezes after heavy cpu usage. It even seems this problem
started ocurring with the last two ubuntu releases. Before that I had
never any problems.

[Bug 537640] Re: [RV530] video problem flicker unreadable hp compaq nx9420 ati radeon [Needs pll quirk]

2010-04-08 Thread Kim Chee Leong
The radeon.new_pll=0 kernel line works on my ATI X1600 (HP nc8430
laptop). The 3d and desktop effects are not working with this trick.

Strange thing is: If I use my TFT monitor as a second screen in a dual head
setup and
don't use the kernel line, the laptop screen is ok. TFT monitor is not ok,
shows horizontal scrolling. So I disabled my second screen, and now the laptop
screen is ok (with 3d effects/compiz).

[Bug 935565] Re: Unity session crash when playing movie with any player except xbmc

2012-03-01 Thread Kim Chee Leong
I believe I'm getting the same error. When I open a video using totem in
precise I get a crash and the login-screen/lightdm is shown. I'm sure
apport is enabled but no crash report is generated in /var/crash/. My
hardware is a AMD E350 (CPU+GPU) with an integrated Radeon HD 6300.

In the xorg log a seg fault is shown, is this related to the crash when
playing videos? I've included the xorg log in the attachments.

[Bug 944353] [NEW] Wrong permissions on /dev/crystalhd

Public bug reported:
