[Bug 550237] [NEW] [lucid] update to lucid shows as mythbuntu and doesn't work

2010-03-28 Thread Kieren
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: plymouth

Automatically updating from Jaunty to Karmic, then from Karmic to Lucid,
resulted in the splash screen displaying "mythbuntu", and the desktop
interface not working and only displaying a single panel with clock at
the top.

[Bug 587936] [NEW] nautilus uses too much memory after removing USB drive

2010-05-31 Thread Kieren
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This is what I did:
1. inserted USB drive, which mounted automatically
2. copied a document of the drive in Nautilus
3. tried to "safely remove" drive
4. it would not unmount (in use by Nautilus, but no windows open) so unplugged
the drive

The system RAM then very quickly filled up and overflowed into the swap space,
causing everything to run very slowly.
Htop indicated that Nautilus was using an abnormally large amount of memory,
and this was confirmed by everything returning to normal after killing the
nautilus process.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04
Package: nautilus 1:2.30.1-0ubuntu1
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.33-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2

[Bug 587936] Re: nautilus uses too much memory after removing USB drive

2010-05-31 Thread Kieren
The problem seems to have been caused by a 6MB image, presumably with
rendering a thumbnail. The RAM usage began to increase immediately when
opening the drive in Nautilus. After deleting the image, the problem
did not recur.

[Bug 709143] [NEW] dip in gnome panel network usage graph on mouse hover

2011-01-28 Thread Kieren
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

(I think I've filed this bug for the right package.) On a standard
Ubuntu 10.10 installation, right-click panel -> Add to Panel... ->
System Monitor provides some resource graphs. Right-click this ->
Preferences -> checking Network enables a graph of current network
transfer speed.

I was transferring large amounts of data, so the network graph was high and
quite constant. Every time I hover my mouse on it so that it shows a tool-tip
with actual speeds, there is a visual dip in the graph. The actual speeds are
not affected.
As far as I can tell this does not happen with the other resource graphs.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10
Package: gnome-system-monitor 2.28.1-1ubuntu1

[Bug 544522] Re: [lucid] latest version of Date::Manip breaks tv_grab_uk_rt

2010-07-15 Thread Kieren
Is there any planned fix for this? With 10.04 being LTS this bug will
cause a lot of grief for those of us who want to use/develop
applications that use xmltv
