[Bug 130804] Re: [Ubuntu Tribe3] Cannot install by LiveCD (weybridge)

2007-09-24 Thread Kevin Wang
Hi Xiaoyang,

I am sorry for late reponse due to I missed your message before.

I just tried to reproduce it on the weybridge which you used before and got the
same issue, then I reset the BIOS to default setting, the issue disappeared!
Here is the configuration for this Machine:
  7.10 Tribe 5, x86_64 Live CD.

  BIOS version: 08.00.14
  Build Date: 06/01/07
  ID: VVBLI954

  Chipset: A1.

To identify the root cause, I tried to reproduce the issue on other Weybridges
without reseting BIOS, but I can see such issue any more. I have tried on 4
other weybridges here, incuding two types, I listed below, unfortunately, I can
not find the root cause in BIOS setting because I can not reproduce it anymore.
  one type is using A2,
  BIOS version: 08.00.14
  Build Date: 05/08/07
  ID: SDBLI944

  one type is using A1,
  BIOS version: 08.00.14
  Build Date: 06/01/07
  ID: VVBLI954

Then I tried to use tribe 4 i386 version, it works fine as well.

I verified it in Tribe 5,

system still can NOT come back after it suspend.

- with Lenovo T61, do the same thing, seems the system can come back but
with very weak screen output (almost can not see anything).

2007-09-18 Thread Kevin Wang
When I using the Santa Rosa SDV, from menu, 'system -> Quit -> Suspend', the
system can NOT come back after it suspend, I try to collect the dmesg, but
seems no useful information at there.
I think the issue 128194 is same as this one.

For the backlight issue, the system work fine after resume with the work
around method.

Hi,
The issue is happened DURING the installation, and the installation is
NOT completed. We can not read anything through the screen when the
issue happened, even switch to TTY.

And I don't think we could get the xorg.conf, xorg.0.log at that time.
It is quite easy to reproduce it. Just install it and then monitor.

[Bug 175833] Re: Hardy Alpha1 x86_64 net auto installation failed

2007-12-20 Thread Kevin Wang
OK, let me give more details about the issue,
1. Setup an network environment, file server (combine with DHCP service) and
control server (tftpboot). put the image in file server, and put the .cfg file,
initrd.gz, and linux file into control server.
2. Boot up the test box with PXE enabled.
3. The test box could get the initrd.gz and linux, then start to install, but
start at this point, the screen begin to flash, and keep flash, even I try to
switch to TTY, I can not see anything and do the log. normally the installation
can be finished within 30 minutes, but after two hours, it still keep flashing.
please find the attached .cfg file. the installation could be OK on Gutsy by
using the similar .cfg file

[Bug 176320] netperf can not be built successfully in Hary alpha1 due to sched.h changed

2007-12-14 Thread Kevin Wang
Public bug reported:

In Hardy alpha1, after install the package libc6-dev, which version is
2.7-4ubuntu1, build the netperf tool, the build will be failed with the error:
netlib.c:1725: undefined reference to '__CPU_ZERO'
netlib.c: 1727: undefined reference to '__CPU_SET'

check the file: /usr/include/sched.h in the libc6-dev(2.7-4ubuntu1)
the define change to:
# define CPU_SET(cpu, cpusetp)   __CPU_SET_S(cpu, sizeof
(cpu_set_t), cpusetp)
# define CPU_ZERO_S(cpu, setsize, cpusetp)   __CPU_ZERO_S(cpu, setsize,
cpusetp)
# define CPU_SET_S(cpu, setsize, cpusetp)   __CPU_SET_S(cpu, setsize,
cpusetp)

I have checked this on Gutsy version which use libc6-dev(2.6.1-1ubuntu10), it
shows as below:
# define CPU_SET(cpu, cpusetp)  __CPU_SET(cpu, cpusetp)

[Bug 207615] [NEW] [hardy] beta can not hibernate successfully with 965GM

2008-03-27 Thread Kevin Wang
Public bug reported:

Hardy Beta can not hibernate successfully by using T61(SantaRosa
platform, 965GM), the system will hang with the message:

[ 84.225874] drm_sysfs_suspend

I try to change the gfx driver to vesa and unload the module drm, the
system can be hibernate successfully.

in alpha5, there is no such issue, and I didn't get chance to test it on
alpha6, not sure if it exists in alpha6.

if you need further more information, please let me know.

thanks

[Bug 119976] Re: All the task previous are killed after resumed from S3 on Santa Rosa with Crestline

2007-06-19 Thread Kevin Wang
OK, I reprodued the issue following the information on the link, and got
difference result from my testing.

My original testing is in the description.
the latest result is: I tried many times, and sometime it can resume
successfully, most of time, it can not. for the failed scenario, I checked the
dmesg, seems no special hint, I collected all the dmesg information during my
testing, the dmesg.4.log is the one which resume successfully.
BTW, some times the linux can not startup by this resume trigger method, I have
to re-install the GRUB.

[Bug 119976] Re: All the task previous are killed after resumed from S3 on Santa Rosa with Crestline

2007-06-20 Thread Kevin Wang
Hi Omma,

I did the test again today, here is the steps:

1. test the resume by the command:
   sync
   echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace
   echo mem > /sys/power/state
result: the system is suspended, then I try to push the power button to let
it resume, a new login xwindow is prompted, all the privious task are
disappeared, check the dmesg, there is no useful information.

2. test resume by the command:
   sync
   echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace
   /etc/acpi/sleep.sh force
result: the system is suspended and resume normally, please see the log:
dmesg.1.log

3. repeat the test (2)
result: the system can not resume normally. in dmesg.2.log, there are:
[ 67.282834] hash matches drivers/base/power/resume.c:46
[ 67.282896] hash matches device 00:0a
from the output of the lspci, I can not find 00:0a

4. repeat the test (2) again.
result: the system can not resume normally, but can not find any hint in
the dmesg.3.log

Thanks
Kevin

[Bug 119961] Re: Incorrect Rotation result on Screen Resolution with Crestline on Santa Rosa

2007-06-22 Thread Kevin Wang
Hello,

I tried with the new package: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.0.0, it doesn't
work well.

it using the wrong resolution which is not same as specified in the
xorg.conf, not 1280x1024, etc, also the xwindow will be restart when I
try to change the resolution, because the resolution is incorrect, I
could do the rotation from the GUI.

from the MMI, I got the same error when trying to do roation.

BTW, use the xserver-xorg-video-intel 1.9.94, I found the module version
display is incorrect in the Xorg.0.log:
it is display as: module version = 14.94.94

Thanks
Kevin

Subject: [Bug 119961] Re: Incorrect Rotation result on Screen Resolution
withCrestline on Santa Rosa

> it using the wrong resolution which is not same as specified in the
xorg.conf, not 1280x1024, etc.

To clarify, you expect it to be 1280x1024, with the 24 bit color mode as
shown in xorg.conf, but it comes up in a different resolution? It looks
like in the Xorg.0.log that it used 800x600. Is that correct?

[Kevin] yes, it is correct.
> also the xwindow will be restart when I try to change the resolution,

To clarify, you are seeing an Xorg crash when you change the resolution
using xrandr?
[Kevin] yes, the X will crash

> because the resolution is incorrect, I could do the rotation from the
GUI.

To clarify, you were able to successfully rotate the screen, but you
believe this is only because of the lower resolution settings?
[Kevin] no, I can not change the resolution from menu, because the resolution
is incorrect and the menu "screen resolution" is out of screen. I can not
select it.

Also, when you say "from the GUI", do you mean the "Screen Resolution"
preferences dialog?
[Kevin] yes

> from the MMI, I got the same error when trying to do roation.

What is "MMI"?
[Kevin] sorry, it is command line. For example: From command line, by the
command "xrandr -o 90" (also for 180/270) is not support with error: "X Error
of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)..."

Thanks
Kevin

By default, it should use XAA, and I didn't change this, we can see that
the system is using the XAA in Xorg.0.log

2020-11-22 Thread kevin wang
My fix was after do-release-upgrade and reboot, I just ran "apt --fix-
broken install" as instructed by apt, and that seems to have fixed it.

also if it matters, I'm running xen, this is a "guest" OS.

[Bug 1073373] [NEW] If I boot my system using the latest Linux version (which is 3.2.0-32) I will occasionally (Like every four times) encounter a problem of my internet connection.

2012-10-30 Thread Kevin Wang
Public bug reported:

The problem is really weird. When it happens, the icon which indicates
the wireless internet connection on the tray will be glowing, and a
dialog box prompts and tells me I need password to join a wireless
network. Even though I make sure that the password is correct, the
dialog box will disappear for approximately 20 seconds and pop up again
and tells me to enter the password without telling me whether the
password I entered previously was correct or not. BUT, if I boot my
system using Linux version 3.2.0-29 this problem will never be happened.

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 on a Lenovo ThinkPad T61 with a CPU of Intel
T8300 dual core @ 2.40 GHz.
