[Bug 284353] [NEW] intel iwl3945 no longer works with 2.6.27-7-generic x86_64

2008-10-16 Thread KennyA
Public bug reported:

When I ran the Ubuntu Itrepid Ibex Live beta CD, my intel iwl3945 card
worked fine. However, after I installed it and did an upgrade to kernel
2.6.27-7-generic x86_64, the card no longer works. When I check lsmod,
the kernel modules show up:

iwl3945 112116 0
rfkill 19236 2 iwl3945
mac80211 253440 1 iwl3945
led_class 13192 1 iwl3945
cfg80211 37136 2 iwl3945,mac80211

However, when I do dmesg, this is what shows up:

[ 26.626080] iwl3945 :0c:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17
[ 26.626265] iwl3945 :0c:00.0: restoring config space at offset 0x1 (was
0x100102, writing 0x100106)
[ 26.626574] firmware: requesting iwlwifi-3945-1.ucode
[ 26.965090] iwl3945: iwlwifi-3945-1.ucode firmware file req failed: Reason -2
[ 26.965097] iwl3945: Could not read microcode: -2
[ 26.965215] iwl3945 :0c:00.0: PCI INT A disabled
[ 26.978864] iwl3945 :0c:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17
[ 26.979013] iwl3945 :0c:00.0: restoring config space at offset 0x1 (was
0x100102, writing 0x100106)
[ 26.979275] firmware: requesting iwlwifi-3945-1.ucode
[ 26.980776] iwl3945: iwlwifi-3945-1.ucode firmware file req failed: Reason -2
[ 26.980779] iwl3945: Could not read microcode: -2
[ 26.980887] iwl3945 :0c:00.0: PCI INT A disabled

At this point, I can not use my wireless card because there doesn't seem
to be microcode for it that the new kernel can see.

[Bug 199620] Re: [REGRESSION] Wireless iwl3945 No Longer Works (Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 6)

2008-10-16 Thread KennyA
Just to let you know (I filed a separate bug for this) that on the new
kernel 2.6.27-7-generic x86_64 in Intrepid, this is broken again. I can
confirm that it worked off of the live CD, but after upgrading the
kernel my wireless no longer works. Here is the bug I filed for it
(since this particular bug was opened for Hardy

[Bug 284353] Re: intel iwl3945 no longer works with 2.6.27-7-generic x86_64

2008-10-16 Thread KennyA
Cuervo, I just did an update this morning and restarted. There was an
update that said something to the effect of not letting the kernel
update without it's driver package. I restarted and was able to use my
wireless again. Have you tried this yet?

2008-10-17 Thread KennyA
what does dmesg show you? Try running the following command:

$ dmesg | grep iwl3945

Also, list your output from uname -rm.

2008-10-17 Thread KennyA
I think your log is from a crossover install.

As for your system hanging up during boot, you could run:

$ dmesg | less

This will start you at the top of the output from the kernel ring, and
you can use the arrow keys to scroll down to see if something sticks out
as a problem.

Glad you got your wireless to work!

[Bug 188972] Re: mic not working on dell vostro 1400 with hda intel (gutsy and hardy)

2008-04-22 Thread KennyA
I have a Dell Vostro 1500 and I am unable to read anything off of the
line in (mic) jack on this laptop. I am currently running Kubuntu KDE4
Hardy and I also have the Intel HD audio chipset. Audio playback is
fine, just can't record anything.
