[Bug 157599] printer tests functional no output no driver combi working

2007-10-26 Thread Kathleen Murphy
Public bug reported:

Upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy Gibbon a couple of days ago. Just needed
printer today.

Test print works. Epson Stylus Color 1160. Did not print after upgrade
from Feisty to Gutsy. Disconnected and tried 'plug and play.' Nothing.
Deleted and re-installed from System Administration Printing. Tried
each of 5 offered drivers in turn with each of two PPD options, total of
20 tries for printer installed as device: usb://EPSON/Stylus%20 COLOR
20 1160 (selected from flyout menu rather than hand typed). And another
20 tries for printer installed as device: epson/dev/usb/lp0. Nada.
Drivers tried: CUPS + Gutenprint 5.0.0-re2 (Recommended), CUPS +
Gutenprint 5.0.1 Simplified, CUPS + Gutenprint 5.0.1, Foomatic
/Gutenprint-ijs Simplified 5.0 and Foomatic/Gutenprint-ijs 5.0.

Printer was working fine in Feisty. Test print looks good. So what
now? I looked through Synaptic Package Manager and can't see anything
obvious to change - I'm not a very sophisticated user so I'm not
terminal command line savvy to run some kind of diagnostic. HELP.
