[Bug 337355] Re: Freeze at "Starting up..." with proposed kernel 2.6.27-13
Seems that when something is plugged into usb (at least with my Cowon U5), then freezing occurs much more probably! I have not seen it freezing anymore if nothing is plugged in. [Bug 294764] [NEW] File-roller extract result is corrupted.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: file-roller When I extract big (about 200Mbytes) zip file (with many directories). Result is corrupted. So far happened only with one zip file (I don't have other files to test with). Nautilus shows that some of the files are turn into type: link (broken). Corrupted files are all (atleast in my case) binary files. Zip file itself is ok, because Zipper ( http://xanthippe.dyndns.org/Zipper/ ) extracts it successfully. Re: [Bug 294764] Re: File-roller extract result is corrupted.
Ok... I got problems with rar file too. But I realised that file-roller package didn't take care of loading working version of unrar. So, I got version 0.0.1! Do I really have to figure out SOMEHOW what binaries File-roller uses, and then load them all manually!?? About 20 different file types, makes what... 40 binaries? rar, unrar, zip, unzip, and so on..? Not very convenient way! Bug? And yes, UnZip 5.52 works correctly in terminal. So bug is in file-roller according zip files? Re: [Bug 294764] Re: File-roller extract result is corrupted.
The zip file content license doesn't allow distribution. It is windows software that I needed to run in virtualbox. Luckily I don't need any windows software anymore. Also I haven't noticed any problems lately. So maybe problem is in windows made zip files. What is the unzip command that fileroller uses? There seems to be different commands for windows archives... -O CHARSET specify a character encoding for DOS, Windows and OS/2 archives -I CHARSET specify a character encoding for UNIX and other archives Correcly working command is "unzip file.zip" or "unzip file.zip -d exdir". Re: [Bug 294764] Re: File-roller extract result is corrupted.
OK, weird. Commandline was; /usr/lib/p7zip/7z x -bd -y -o/home/myname/Desktop/tmp/somefolder -i@/home/myname/.fr-CrSCnN/file-list -- /home/myname/Desktop/tmp/vv.zip So, file-roller does not use unzip it uses 7z. Why is that file-list needed, and how do it creates it? Simpler command; 7z x -o/home/myname/Desktop/tmp/somefolder /home/myname/Desktop/tmp/vv.zip yields same corrupted result. So this seems to be bug in 7zip. Re: [Bug 543445] Re: gnome-panel hangs with invalid configuration
First, now I'm on Ubuntu 10.04 64bit and bug is confirmed with this version also. Bad hang up, attached gdb didn't take any commands while gnome-panel was in infinite loop. Also whole desktop was pretty much useless. But I managed (somehow, I don't know what I did to get it work) to open terminal from mouse right click menu (customised menu). >From there I did kill gdb (gnome-panel didn't die), launched gconf-editor, removed extra panel and finally kill gnome-panel. Anyway I attached result I got from gdb. I don't know how to fix gnome-panel configs from live-cd if needed, and I'm not sure power off shutdown is good thing anyway. So, I'm not very thrilled to do any experimentation anymore with this issue. I think this bug is due two panels racing to get focus, refresh, or so on... as they are in same place! [Bug 1025528] Re: Gedit displays garbled overlaid text on long line text file
I'm now using only Linux Mint and I don't quite understand what version of gedit I'm supposed to have. Synaptic says latest and installed version is gedit_2.30.5+qiana. Linux Mint website says: Qiana (3.10.4-0ubuntu4) https://community.linuxmint.com/software/view/gedit And gedit says: gedit - Version 2.30.4 So, in short the version numbering is so fucked up, it is impossible to say what I have installed from the repo. [Bug 1190990] Re: Xfce4 mess up with icon positions
One option is to uninstall xfdesktop. Get the source code, then compile and install it. I don't know how painful this would be. This also means you would have to update it manually. I don't recommend to do it, unless you really know what to do. Not sure if there are ready binary packages for xfdesktop, that would be easier way. I have been on Xubuntu 13.10 quite long time and it has worked fine. So upgrading might be the easiest option. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1190990 Title: Xfce4 mess up with icon positions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfdesktop4/+bug/1190990/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1190990] Re: Xfce4 mess up with icon positions
Some of your applications might depend on certain version of xfdesktop, but I doubt it would be the case. Also not sure how update manager would react... I think the biggest worry is about configs, if they have changed with newer version of xfdesktop, you might mess up things. But of course you can try it, just take back up of the original binaries and possible configs. Upgrading shouldn't require re-installing or tweaking..? You are prompted to keep your old configs. Also I would clean the fan anyway! And there is always the option to just deal with messy icon positions. But you do as you please. [Bug 1307251] Re: xfdesktop doesn't save the arrangement of desktop icons after a resolution change
According to Ubuntu policy backports are not for bug fixing. "The Backports Project is a means to provide new features to users. Because of the inherent stability risks in backporting packages, users do not get backported packages without some explicit action on their part.
