[Bug 1245473] Re: Binding ctrl+shift, alt+shift, etc for switching keyboard layout makes shortcuts with ctrl+shift, etc not working in any program

2018-03-14 Thread Julian Alarcon
Maybe this is related to this bug:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=776570

I found a workaround, here:
https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/68/gnome-3-22-disable-
altshift-keyboard-layout-switching

Setting this works:
dconf write /org/gnome/desktop/input-sources/xkb-options "['grp_led:scroll']"

[Bug 1811580] Re: systemd fails to start sshd at reboot

2019-05-14 Thread Julian Alarcon
Thank you @vorlon . I made some test with that image on a clean server
and it works with no issues, but I had issues in different servers with
the same image and other worked fine with the same AMI.

I use a proxy repository, this can be related to different/incompatible
systemd and kernel versions installed using that repo?

2019-09-19 Thread Julian Alarcon
This is finally fixed! I test it in Ubuntu 18.04 kernel: 4.15.0-64,
Ubuntu 18.04.3 kernel: 5.0.0-29.

The keyboard and mouse seems to work fine with no issues! I had to
disable a workaround used to make it work!

[Bug 1863255] Re: Programs installed in Snap format do not detect the keyboard

2020-04-20 Thread Julian Alarcon
Hi. I'm getting a similar issue but it's related with the context menu
from the tray icon. I'm the maintainer of prospect-mail but I also see
this issue in https://super-productivity.com/ snap app.

This is the message:

[Bug 1811580] Re: systemd fails to start sshd at reboot

2019-04-23 Thread Julian Alarcon
There is something that I cant understand.

I get that systemd new update changes some stuff and needs an specific
path.

But, why are the owners of / directory or others directories being
changed?

I got this issue with this ami-059eeca93cf09eebd on AWS, but not in all
the servers that have this error.

As AWS has no serial console access the only way to restore that servers
was to create a new instance, attach the old disk, fix permissions and
reattach disk to old instance.

[Bug 1708513] [NEW] Missing network connection types in Control Center (bridge, bonde, etc)

2017-08-03 Thread Julian Alarcon
Public bug reported:

I don't know if this is related to the GNOME Migration of Ubuntu 17.10
(maybe it is), but now in the gnome-control-center there are no options
to setup multiple connection types.

Bond, Bridge, DSL, all missing (only VPN option)

This is a related bug, the removed from gnome-control-center .
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=747443

Please enable this options or confirm that you are not going to support this in
your implementation of gnome-control-center.

Thanks!

Workaround 1: You can use "nm-connection-editor" command to display a
graphical UI of Network Manager with all the available options (I think
that this was the Ubuntu implementation 17.04 and backward)

Workaround 2: You can use the CLI of Network Manger using the command
"nmtui"

[Bug 1598463] Re: samba client negotiates down to NT1 instead of up to SMB3_11, doesn't happen with Windows 10 client

2017-08-04 Thread Julian Alarcon
Ok, I check and the Windows 10 client have disabled the SMBv1 protocol.

But the next version of Windows Server will disable it by default:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/4034314/smbv1-is-not-installed-by-default-in-windows-10-rs3-and-windows-server

*---*
- Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education no longer contain the SMBv1
client or server by default after a clean installation.
- Windows Server 2016 no longer contains the SMBv1 client or server by default
after a clean installation.
- Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Professional no longer contain the SMBv1
server by default after a clean installation.
- Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Professional still contain the SMBv1 client by
default after a clean installation. If the SMBv1 client is not used for some
time, it automatically uninstalls itself.

Workaround:

Edit /etc/samba/smb.conf
Add this line in [global] section:

   client max protocol = SMB3

Then restart Samba services with:

sudo systemctl restart smbd
sudo systemctl restart nmbd

Now I can connect to shared folder in Windows 10 from Nautilus (Ubuntu 17.10)

I was getting the same error, but was my mistake, I was using a bad

When I used my correct username and password it works without issues (it

Can you confirm if you are using the right credentials?

This should be maybe a god idea to inform the bad credentials instead of
a cryptic report.

[Bug 1697817] Re: disable smb1 by default

2017-09-11 Thread Julian Alarcon
Hi!

Adding information to this bug, latest kernel release, 4.13, disabled by
default SMBv1:
https://lkml.org/lkml/2017/9/3/155

This is related to SAMBA but still there is work needed
###
The change in question is simply changing the default cifs behavior:
instead of defaulting to SMB 1.0 (which you really should not use:
just google for "stop using SMB1" or similar), the default cifs mount
now defaults to a rather more modern SMB 3.0.

Now, because you shouldn't have been using SMB1 anyway, this shouldn't
affect anybody. But guess what? It almost certainly does affect some
people, because they blithely continued using SMB1 without really
thinking about it.

And you certainly _can_ continue to use SMB1, but due to the default
change, now you need to be *aware* of it. You may need to add an
explicit "vers=1.0" to your mount options in /etc/fstab or similar if
you *really* want SMB1.

But if the new default of 3.0 doesn't work (because you still use a
pterodactyl as a windshield wiper), before you go all the way back to
the bad old days and use that "vers=1.0", you might want to try
"vers=2.1". Because let's face it, SMB1 is just bad, bad, bad.

[Bug 1697817] Re: disable smb1 by default

2017-09-11 Thread Julian Alarcon
Adding more info, next future SAMBA version 4.7 will increase the SMB
"client max protocol" to SMB3_11 to be able to connect to servers with
SMB1 disabled, "client min protocol" is still SMB1.

https://download.samba.org/pub/samba/rc/samba-4.7.0rc1.WHATSNEW.txt
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Release_Planning_for_Samba_4.7
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_4.7_Features_added/changed

##
The default for "client max protocol" has changed to "SMB3_11",
which means that smbclient (and related commands) will work against
servers without SMB1 support.

It's possible to use the '-m/--max-protocol' option to overwrite
the "client max protocol" option temporary.

Note that the '-e/--encrypt' option also works with most SMB3 servers
(e.g. Windows >= 2012 and Samba >= 4.0.0), so the SMB1 unix extensions
are not required for encryption.

The change to SMB3_11 as default also means smbclient no longer
negotiates SMB1 unix extensions by default, when talking to a Samba server with
"unix extensions = yes". As a result some commands are not available, e.g.
posix_encrypt, posix_open, posix_mkdir, posix_rmdir, posix_unlink, posix_whoami,
getfacl and symlink. Using "-mNT1" reenabled them, if the server supports SMB1.

Note the default ("CORE") for "client min protocol" hasn't changed,
so it's still possible to connect to SMB1-only servers by default.

[Bug 1564122] Re: FFe: Please merge shutter 0.93.1-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)

2016-03-30 Thread Julian Alarcon
I think that this is not a duplicated bug, just because a newer version
solve a reported problem (bug 1532364) doesn't means that we should
update the version.

Just apply the specific changes. Also, as we are close to the freeze
state, new versions are hard to be uploaded, but fixes are easier to
promote.

I'll be happy to have a new version of Shutter, but I think that this
may take some time and we are close to release date.

[Bug 702559] Re: global hotkey pause/resume doesn't work

2016-06-03 Thread Julian Alarcon
Is this problem still around?

I have no issues, I was able to configure the local Plugin of Audacious
and create Global Hotkeys with no issues.

And now I found how to use the Ubuntu Global hotkeys. I just need to enable
(and disable the local GLobal hotkeys) the other plugin in Audacious called
GNOME Shortcuts.

[Bug 280160] Re: n-m-openvpn shuts down VPN when openvpn soft-restarts

2012-04-24 Thread Julian Alarcon
I confirm this same bug in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin. The same
workaround works:

Steps to workaround:

1. Change filename of /usr/lib/NetworkManager/nm-openvpn-service-openvpn-helper
cd /usr/lib/NetworkManager/
mv nm-openvpn-service-openvpn-helper nm-openvpn-service-openvpn-helper.dist

2. Create new file with same old name:
nano nm-openvpn-service-openvpn-helper

3. Fill the file with variables to export and original executable. Copy
and paste this:

#!/bin/bash

[ -z "$ifconfig_local" ] && export ifconfig_local=$4
[ -z "$ifconfig_remote" ] && export ifconfig_remote=$5

/usr/lib/NetworkManager/nm-openvpn-service-openvpn-helper.dist $*

4. Make the new file executable:
chmod +x nm-openvpn-service-openvpn-helper

Now it works!

[Bug 933139] [NEW] l2tp-ipsec-vpn failed trying to connect to l2tp VPN

2012-02-15 Thread Julian Alarcon
Public bug reported:

l2tp-ipsec-vpn failed trying to connect to l2tp VPN.

I already tried the packages from the repositorie (https://launchpad.net
/~werner-jaeger/+archive/ppa-werner-vpn) and the officia packages in
ubuntu 12.04.

I think that maybe the problem is in xl2tpd but I don't know how can I
trace it.

The VPN packages in the repo works fine in others version of Ubuntu
(10.04, 11.10, 11.04, 11.10 (replacing the xl2tpd with error)) but not
in Precise.

BTW I already tried the packages of Debian Wheezy in a Linux Mint Debian
installation and I got the same error.

This is the error:

[Bug 933139] Re: l2tp-ipsec-vpn failed trying to connect to l2tp VPN

2012-02-15 Thread Julian Alarcon
My VPN is set using this parameters:

VPN Server Address
Pre-shared Key
Protocols (PAP, CHAP)
Username and password
Route (internal route, 192.168.0.0, netmask 255.255.255.0)

Everything is left by default in L2tpIPsecVpn

Using the same settings works really great in other Ubuntu versions
(10.04 to 11.10).

I thing that this bug is really critial, because the next version of
Ubuntu (12.04) is going to be LTS, and we don't want that thing like in
11.10 with the xl2tpd package happens.

[Bug 1299290] Re: Window blank on connection, works on resize

2015-04-06 Thread Julian Alarcon
This bug seems to be already fixed on newer releases of Remmina.

This is the bug report of Remmina in the old bug tracker (SourceForge):
http://sourceforge.net/p/remmina/bugs/87/

This is the same bug report, but in the new bug tracker (GitHub):
https://github.com/FreeRDP/Remmina/issues/387

This bug was already fixed in a newer upstream version 1.1.1. So, if
Vivdi is going to have Remmina version 1.1.1 maybe this bug is already
fixed
(http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=remmina&searchon=names&suite=all§ion=all)
can somebody with Ubuntu 15.04 test it?

[Bug 1175947] Re: gvfs-copy --preserve doesn't work with MTP devices

Maybe this is also related with the Android version and OEM
modifications. My Xperia Z1 has Android version 4.4.4.

[Bug 1228079] Re: Login issue: Lightdm + LDAP + Kerberos

2013-10-18 Thread Julian Alarcon
Same problem here, I just upgraded Ubuntu from 13.04 to 13.10
Right now I'm using pbis-open lastest version (7.5.2.1527). This versions
worked fine justa few hours before upgrade.

Upgrade was normal, but when I tried to start session with any domain
user I got a few flashes and returned to lightdm login screen.

After cheking the message error "/usr/sbin/lightdm-session: 5: exec: init: not
found" I found another bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/1184878

I made the sgestion of make a symlink running this:
sudo ln -s /sbin/init /bin/init

Now when I try to login with a domain user, I got a blank screen and
mouse works, but nothing else show up. No background, no terminal with
"Alt+T" combination, no bars, no icons, nothing.. Hey.. but mouse moves!

This is the new log from the file .xsessions-errors

Script for ibus started at run_im.
Script for auto started at run_im.
Script for default started at run_im.
init: unity-gtk-module main process (3055) terminated with status 127
init: logrotate pre-start process (3053) terminated with status 127
init: dbus pre-start process (3056) terminated with status 127
init: ssh-agent pre-start process (3054) terminated with status 127
init: ssh-agent post-stop process (3062) terminated with status 127

I got this errors using nouveau (I thought that maybe nvidia drivers
were the problem, but I was wrong)
