[Bug 392763] Re: bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_intel8x0'
I have the same problem with pulseaudio on my machine using Karmic, with nvidia ck8s audio hardware. I can't get pulseaudio to play any sound consistently :-( -- bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_intel8x0' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/392763 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 392763] Re: bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_intel8x0'
I won't be able to produce logs until Tuesday night, since I have no proper access to that computer right now. What happened is that I upgraded my HTPC to 9.10, and I have no sound at all through PA. Direct alsa access works. Sometimes I got stuttering audio from totem, if I used alsamixer to unmute all channels. The log of PA when changing volume with the tray icon said something like setting 100%, got 0%, final 0%, and would set all levels to zero in alsa. I'll get you the logs next week. I also got the warning about the driver bug, but I'll try to confirm it again, since I was playing in desperation with the buggy_irq parameter of snd_Intel8x0 and it could have something to do with it. -- bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_intel8x0' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/392763 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1563110] Re: No sound on Asus e200ha, intel sst with cx2072x codec
For people "irritated", please take into account that there's no point in complaining here at the moment. There's a driver for this particular hardware in the making from people associated to Conexant. Patches were posted to the alsa devel mailing list on December 2016: http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa- devel/2016-December/115899.html Unfortunately reviews of the code brought up a number of issues and it looks like there's been little visible progress since then. If/when this makes it to the kernel/alsa upstream, Ubuntu will eventually pick it up. But when no driver is available at all, there's no point in blaming Ubuntu. There's no way they'll be able to dedicate developers to write drivers for every random piece of hardware that's thrown at the PC market. Particularly if detailed hardware technical manuals are not published by the vendor. Hint: Complaining won't help the developer at Conexant either. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1563110 Title: No sound on Asus e200ha, intel sst with cx2072x codec To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/alsa-driver/+bug/1563110/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1563110] Re: No sound on Asus e200ha, intel sst with cx2072x codec
About problems with the keyboard and/or touchpad, try disabling fast boot in the BIOS, or passing the "i8042.reset" parameter to the kernel command line. It looks like the fast boot option won't initialize the keyboard controller (http://wiki.osdev.org/%228042%22_PS/2_Controller) into a state that the Linux kernel will be able to use by default.
