[Bug 106737]

2020-12-01 Thread Jorgk-bmo
Created attachment 9013294
92165-v2.patch - rebased again

Carrying forward Kent's r-.

This actually works fine for a local folder, but it doesn't work for
IMAP. If you rename folder "Tests" to "tests" you end up with two
versions in the UI. In the subscribe dialogue you only get "tests" and
there's also only one "tests.msf" file. After a restart, the "Tests"
folder is gone. So the solution can't be far off. Of course it's missing
the maildir part which shouldn't be hard to add.

Since this is one of the TB "papercuts"
(https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird/Papercuts), maybe we can look at
this bug one day soon now.

Since Ben is already working a bit on fixing some maildir issues and
touching the relevant files, maybe he'd be a good candidate. Or maybe
not since this would need Windows to test? Just take it as a suggestions
since I can't allocate resources.

[Bug 106737]

2020-12-01 Thread Jorgk-bmo
I did a bit of debugging. folderPane.js:2605, folder.rename(aName, msgWindow);,
calls nsImapMailFolder::Rename() which calls nsImapService::RenameLeaf() and
that opens this URL via GetImapConnectionAndLoadUrl():

"imap://u...@mail.com@server:143/rename>.INBOX.TestMessages>.INBOX.testMessages"
Later we came into nsImapIncomingServer::OnlineFolderRename() and
nsImapMailFolder::RenameClient() which does indeed call
nsMsgDBFolder::PropagateDelete() as a comment in the patch suggests.

So that's all very well, but there appears to be some code missing to
remove the no longer existing folder from the UI.

Thanks. I was in to minds and almost about to cancel the NI since this is going
((too) far) into IMAP. But then on the other hand, we need to increase our
backend knowledge of IMAP.

Unbitrotted patch.

I found this bug looking for "patchlove". I refreshed the patch.

This is the result:
from: =?UTF-8?Q?J=c3=b6rg_Knobloch?=
subject: some subject
to: some...@somewhere.com

Pretty ugly:
- The headers need to be RFC 2047 decoded.
- lowercase in the field names.

So the question is, before I invest more work here: Does anyone want
this? If not, we mark it "wontfix" and be done with it.

The nice add-on "HeaderToolsLite" also gives access to the headers, you
can even edit them.

I've thought about this a little over lunch.

I don't think a "copy all headers" function is useful. I've just done it
again and this is what I got on a message from the "dev-platform"
mailing list.

subject: Re: Dan Stillman's concerns about Extension Signing
references: <56557be1.7080...@mozilla.com> <56572e25.2090...@mozilla.com>

<565849ae.4060...@mozilla.org> <6asdnedgwyyqzsxlnz2dnuu7-tedn...@mozilla.org>

newsgroups: mozilla.dev.platform
from: Gijs Kruitbosch
to: dev-platf...@lists.mozilla.org

OK, it can be sanitised down to:

Subject: Re: Dan Stillman's concerns about Extension Signing
Newsgroups: mozilla.dev.platform
From: Gijs Kruitbosch
To: dev-platf...@lists.mozilla.org

Which average user would want an indigestible block of headers? I think
those headers are for geeks. The normal user wants to copy what he/she
sees.

Since you can already copy the subject, in my opinion the following
would be useful:

Fix the "Copy Email Address" function to copy *all* the text that one sees.
Instead of copying
  gijskruitbo...@gmail.com
it should copy the full header:
  Gijs Kruitbosch

It's happened to me so many times that I wanted to copy someone's name
(and e-mail address). It wouldn't have helped in the slightest to place
a big chunk of data I didn't need onto the clipboard since I wanted to
paste the name inline.

So should we close this bug here as "wontfix" and open another one to fix
copying the e-mail address?
For the record, the function CopyEmailNewsAddress is here:
https://dxr.mozilla.org/comm-central/source/mail/base/content/msgHdrViewOverlay.js#1625

[Bug 1085]

2021-01-22 Thread Jorgk-bmo
Sorry, this is the first bug I'm de-assigning myself from. Not because
it's too hard but because it's not useful. It would be a geek feature
and personally I don't see what it would be good for.

I'd like to mark this one "wontfix", but last time I did, hell broke
loose.

There is bug 327621 which I could fix with one of the options I mentioned:
1) Change existing copy function 2) Have another menu item (wording?).

Richard, do you prefer to change the existing "Copy Email Address"
function or have another menu item?

I've just looked at the initial patch from 2005. This places a lot of (ugly not
useful) data onto the clipboard.

In comment #47 Thomas said:

While this is desirable, it's also hard to do right now. So I'll leave this bug
for now and fix bug 327621 instead.

[Bug 235101]

2022-05-26 Thread Jorgk-bmo
I've played with this during a fair amount of time. The only perfect
solution would be to format the selected content nicely in the
clipboard. As Richard said in comment #68, the text currently placed on
the clipboard doesn't lend itself to pasting in a formatted way. I tried
omitting headers (CardViewHeading), but then the selected text loses its
context. So let's land it as proposed.
