[Bug 251933] Re: radio killswitch light does not reflect killswitch state

2009-06-21 Thread JoLa
I had the same problem with a Dell laptop (vostro 1320). It occurs after the
latest upgrades.
With the life CD and before the upgdate there were no problems.
After a new installation I started the actualisation and deselected 'hal,
libhal1, libhal-storage1'. Now WLAN works fine.

There must be a bug in the new files, version:
0.512c1+git20090403-0ubuntu3

'dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.Hal
/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/dell_wlan_switch
org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.KillSwitch.GetPower' returns '0'

With the old version (0.512c1+git20090403-0ubuntu1) it returns 2

Hint: I use ubuntu since 6 weeks. I'm not a specialist. Because of some
hints concerning hal layer, which I found in the internet, and tried
what's above written.

[Bug 251933] Re: radio killswitch light does not reflect killswitch state

2009-06-22 Thread JoLa
Think that I have to open a new bug report, because I had overseen that
this problem concerns only the killswitch light and not the function.
With me the killswitch turns the light on/off but with the newer files
WLAN isn't possible.

[Bug 467636] Re: Sound Recorder not recording anything

2009-11-01 Thread JoLa
Seams to be a problem with karmic.
I'm using audacity and I cannot record audio. With jaunty there was no problem.
May be the reason is, to make the UI of the audio settings more simply.
My audio harware: Nvidia MCP55 audio adapter.

Hope that there will be a quick fix. Otherwise I must go back to jaunty
as I need audio recording every Sunday .

[Bug 1507002] Re: "boot error" due to gcc v5 transition

2016-02-03 Thread JoLa
Using gnome-disk-utility happens only on a stick which was formerly not
used with dd and applications based on dd. In this case you must create
a new partition table and a new partition with gparted. Any messages
concerning sector size must be ignored.

With nautilus (Ubuntu 15.10) you open open the contect menu of the iso-
File and select 'Write disc images' or so (I use a German Ubuntu) .

[Bug 1015041] Re: Conflict between NTP and NTPDATE

2012-07-12 Thread JoLa
Meanwhile I had installed Ubuntu: As the unity desktop is not my thing I
installed Xubuntu again and found two reasons for the time leaks in the
syslog, but not at the same starts of OS.

1. Setting of IPv6 in the networkmanager. I set it to 'ignore'.
2. NTP Server in 'ntp.conf'. I changed it to this:

server ptbtime1.ptb.de
server ptbtime2.ptb.de
server ptbtime3.ptb.de

# Use Ubuntu's ntp server as a fallback.
# server de.pool.ntp.org

Since deactivating the fallback server Xubuntu starts without loop about
fifty times till now.

[Bug 1015041] [NEW] Conflict between NTP and NTPDATE

2012-06-19 Thread JoLa
Public bug reported:

Hi,

if you select time synchronisation over the internet, NTP must be installed
(offered in the dialog) . This results in a waiting loop (1 minute) after log
in.
I found a hint in the internet concerning NTP and NTPDATE. Therefore I
deinstalled NTPDATE, AFAIK installed per default. After this the waiting loop
is gone.
Think that the package manager should do this automatically.

[Bug 1015041] Re: Conflict between NTP and NTPDATE

2012-06-19 Thread JoLa
After several restarts I thought that there must be another behavior
which causes the loop. I don't payed attention, that I had changed the
login to using password. In this case the loop exists. Without password
I had no loop with and without NTPDATE for several restarts.

But with the last restart I had a loop with login without password. I
deinstalled NTPDATE and had no loop after restart.

Strange behaviour. I give up as these things are to heavy for me.

Adding syslog as attachement where you can see the time leaks.
