[Bug 222445] [NEW] [Hardy] update failed after non-default option selected for menu.lst merge
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager During my upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy I was queried by the update- manager what I wanted to do about my local menu.lst file. I selected the option ~ "diff the two versions". The update manager asked me this twice. The first nothing seemed to happen and the second time it seemed to have realized that something had gone wrong. In neither case was I shown a diff of the two files. I also got the error messages below in a dialogue: --- Could not install 'linux-image-2.6.24-16-generic' The upgrade will continue but the 'linux-image-2.6.24-16-generic' package may be in a not working state. [Bug 982434] Re: Opening the dash causes memory usage to climb dramatically, and never comes back down
Hi, I am sorry if this is a bad place for this message, but googling didn't give me only one more suitable launchpad result and that had been maked as a duplicate of this one. Recently my computer became very slow and upon starting "System monitor" I realized that Compiz was using 5.5GiB (Sic!) of (writable)memory, 7.7GiB of virtual memory and constantly using 8-22% of processor power (if I read these columns correctly). As it happens 7.7GiB is also the amount of installed memory - maybe related? I had probably only used open office write, evince, Thunderbird, Skype, Jupiter (0.1.9) with a second screen, and Firefox with Youtube. My computer had been on for a few days (ca 4 days) and been suspended during the nights and most of the days. I have also opened the dash many times. I don't know if this is the same bug? I don't know if this is a memory leak? I was not clever/awake enough to take a screenshot or copy some log or something, but merely restarted the computer (the computer was also too unresponsive to do much googling). I am sorry for this. But at least this is reported somewhere on the internet now... If this happens again I'll try to be better. Ubuntu 12.10 64bit, Lenovo T410 (GMA) 7.7 GiB RAM (not original), Intel core i7 M620, Nvidia NVS 3100M using driver 304.51. /Johan -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982434 Title: Opening the dash causes memory usage to climb dramatically, and never comes back down To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/982434/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 979287] Re: Can't add 'other locations' for clock in 12.04 and 12.10
I believe I have the same issue, but with a twist? (I am sorry if this is the wrong place for filing this - this is my first time...) Can't add specific 'other locations' for clock in 12.10. When trying to add Singapore, a list shows up that allows me to choose between "Singapore, South Africa" and "Singapore (Historical), United States", but the obvious Singapore, Signapore does not show up. When typing Sidney, a list shows up that allows me to choose between a few different Sidneys, all in the USA. There would be space for the "real Sidney", but it doesn't show up.
