[Bug 550352] [NEW] netbook-launcher on Lucid desktop shows blue icons

2010-03-28 Thread Joe Begnoche (jwb1275)
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: netbook-launcher

First I installed Lucid Desktop Beta1
Next I installed all updates
Next I installed netbook-launcher and Go Home Applet through the Software Center
The icons of the netbook launcher menu have strange blue tints to them
The blue stays no matter what theme I change to.
Sometimes some or all folders in the Files & Folders menu are blue.
I attached a screenshot.

[Bug 550352] Re: netbook-launcher on Lucid desktop shows blue icons

2010-03-30 Thread Joe Begnoche (jwb1275)
I also tried installing Lucid Desktop with all default settings.
Next I installed netbook-launcher using synaptic package manager.
Next I added netbook-luncher to my Startup Applications list.
Then I restarted the laptop.
The Netbook Launcher came up with the icon colors I expected (no blues).
I then ran Update Manager and updated all the packages that were checked.
After the updates the colors of the icons were still OK but I had to restart
the laptop.
I restarted and when the netbook launcher menu came up it had the same blue
icons.
I attached a before and after screenshot.
I will try your other suggestions and let you know what happens.

[Bug 550352] Re: netbook-launcher on Lucid desktop shows blue icons

2010-04-08 Thread Joe Begnoche (jwb1275)
I just installed Lucid Beta2 and I still have this problem. The steps I used
this time were,
Install Lucid Beta2
install ubuntu-netbook package using Synaptic Package Manager
Restarted laptop
(see attached image)

[Bug 550352] Re: netbook-launcher on Lucid desktop shows blue icons

2010-04-09 Thread Joe Begnoche (jwb1275)
No worries, its not a show stopping bug just annoying. Thank you for taking
time to respond! I do keep my /home. I did an install using all the default
parameters, except during hard drive partitioning, the default is to split the
drive with existing OS, but I change that to use entire drive.
I did notice a few change things as I have used the betas. In beta 1 and now
in beta 2 when the computer started and the netbook-launcher first showed the
menu on the left (only menu no application icons yet) the colors were the
normal colors for the menu icons. This lasted for a split second then the
application icons appear and that when the colors change to the blues (maybe my
old laptop has got the blues... haha) .
I also noticed in beta 1 that sometimes (it was not 100% repeatable) I would
open System>Preferences>Appearance, not change anything and close it and then
all the icons would go back to their usual colors, except the menu icon for
Files & Folders would stay blue and so would my Joe folder in the Files &
Folders menu. Now in beta 2 I get a similar behavior. I startup the laptop I
see the color change that I explained that happens for a split second, so
everything is blue like my last screenshot, then I went to
System>Administration>Software Sources and as soon as it opened all of my menu
item icons changed to there proper colors, except the application icons in
Favorites and Files & Folders changed to the blues (they were the proper colors
before running Software Sources). I attached a screenshot of this. Notice the
blues in firefox and software center, and the blue is missing from help and
empathy in the Favorites menu. Also the blue folders in the Files & Folders
menu.

I guess anything else you can think of, I will try. I am going to still
try a fresh install of UNE on this laptop and I will report my findings
from that.
