[Bug 546106] [NEW] WLAN Atheros doesn't work after UPDATING 9.10; 9.10 virgin install out of the box runs perfectly

2010-03-24 Thread Jochen Hoffmann
Public bug reported:

When installing 9.10 just out of the box, the Fujitsu- miniPCI-Card with
Atheros chip-set works perfectly! - Includung WPA-2 encryption.
After rebooting, finishing the obligate update, WLAN vanishs.
The additionally inserted Netgear WG511T works perfecty.

I'm not the most advanced Ubuntu-user. Reading the different forums, some told
the midwifi driver has been replaced by the ath5k-driver some told not. I could
neither find them in Synaptic.
Uncommenting the ath_pci in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-ath_pci.conf as described
in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8199350#5 didn't changed anything.
So as a last try last night i installed the madwifi as described in
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1309072 . (This as a hint - you will
see it.)
At all: nothing changed.

dmesg has reported an EEPROM-Checksum-Error at that time.
[ 14.802423] ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [LNKH] enabled at IRQ 11
[   14.802433] ath_pci :02:0a.0: PCI INT A -> Link[LNKH] -> GSI 11 (level,
low) -> IRQ 11
[ 14.976226] MadWifi: unable to attach hardware: 'EEPROM checksum invalid'
(HAL status 7)

In attachment i sent all the contents of /var/log - directory. Hopefully
it helps.

Thank you for helping

Jochen Hoffmann

[Bug 546106] Re: WLAN Atheros doesn't work after UPDATING 9.10; 9.10 virgin install out of the box runs perfectly

2010-10-25 Thread Jochen Hoffmann
Hello Fabio,

i didn't traced it anymore. Due to further problems - espacially the not
supported UXGA-resolution (1600x1200) on my Toshiba SatPro 6100 - i
switched to MS-Windows XP.

Sorry, it's my profession to work with computers. Not to solve there
problems.

Thanks for mentioning - after seven month...

Jochen

2010-10-26 Thread Jochen Hoffmann
Hallo Fabio,

sorry about my criticism. It's not personally against you. I know:
whitout the - relatively few - enthusiast Linux has never become what it
is. Many thanks for this!

On the other hand... i need my computer to work with it.

Thank you and your fellows again

Jochen Hoffmann
