[Bug 510568] Re: package openoffice.org-pdfimport 1.0+OOo3.1.1-5ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-03-06 Thread Jim Byrnes
In my case soffice --> soffice.bin are also running. The quickstarter
option is not checked

[Bug 1639180] Re: no login possible after update to nvidia 304.132

2016-11-11 Thread Jim Byrnes
I also cannot log on since the update to 304.132.
Ubuntu 14.04
Geforce 9100

Right now I am using the nouveau driver but it is not a satisfactory
solution. I have two monitors and with the nouveau driver one runs at a
much lower resolution that the other. With the 304.131 driver this was
not the case. Having struggled to get a system that works I am hesitant
to try the workaround in comment #20

[Bug 1276379] Re: fglrx-installer 2:13.101-0ubuntu0.0.1 fails with some "legacy" devices (Radeon HD 2000 3000 4000)

2014-02-17 Thread Jim Byrnes
This bug also effects me. The workaround described in comment #13
worked for me.

Ubuntu 12.04.4
Mobility Radeon HD 4225/4250

[Bug 712751] Re: package openoffice.org-common 1:3.2.0-7ubuntu4.1 failed to install/upgrade: corrupted filesystem tarfile - corrupted package archive

2011-02-04 Thread Jim Byrnes
I am in basically the same situation. I used Synaptic to "fix" the broken
dependencies and then tried to reapply the update and received this error
message: E:
/var/cache/apt/archives/openoffice.org-core_1%3a3.2.0-7ubuntu4.2_i386.deb:
 short read in buffer_copy (backend dpkg-deb during `
 ./usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.2/program/libvclli.so')

Some possibly relevant terminal output is here:
http://pastebin.com/z1AMdd8V

To get OpenOffice updated I:

 $ sudo apt-get clean
Then ran Synaptic-->Edit-->Fix Broken Packages
Then applied the packages again.
It re-downloaded openoffic.org-core and then successfully updated everything.

Regards,  Jim
