[Bug 240571] Re: podcast default download not correct

2008-08-24 Thread Jay Morgan
I have the same problem.

I just discovered that I can't play podcasts I have already downloaded
after closing and reopening Rhythmbox because it is defaulting to
/home/homefolder/. If I try to play them (without doubleclicking to
redownload them) it gives the error:

"Couldn't start playback Problem occurred without error being set.
This is a bug in Rhythmbox or GStreamer."

or a null error. The file isn't found because the podcast folder keeps
resetting itself. Aaaarghh! This is a dealbreaker for rhythmbox. I
set my podcasts to a shared folder where I use a chron task to keep it
world-readable, since there is no use to everyone who uses the computer
having to download the same, large mp3 files to their personal folders.
Since this doesn't work, I'm going to have to go back to banshee and
just learn to live with the incredibly slow reload times everytime you
change panes.

[Bug 240571] Re: podcast default download not correct

2008-08-24 Thread Jay Morgan
If I doubleclick the entry it will say "Waiting" because it is going out
and re-fetching the file, even though it has already been downloaded.
It simply doesn't realize it has been downloaded since it has now been
restarted and jumped back to the default folder. So now I have two
copies of the file on my hard drive, one of which Rhythmbox has
completely forgotten about.

[Bug 240571] Re: podcast default download not correct

2008-08-24 Thread Jay Morgan
Actually, this may or may not be the same error. I'm definitely having
the problem with the Rhythmbox reverting back to the default folder, but
I'm not sure that is the source of the other errors. I reset it to the
correct folder, and it is still happening...

[Bug 241176] Re: [fglrx] Black screen on Logoff, System completely unresponsive

2008-10-08 Thread Jay Morgan
Me too. Attached my Xorg.conf file
I have an ATI Radeon X1550 64bit video card. I got it because it was on a list
of cards compatible with the fglrx driver. I share the computer with someone,
which means someone is logging out constantly, and the computer gets
hard-booted at least once a day, often many more times. Can't be too good for
it. =(

Having the same problem ripping my DVDs to avi file. Audio is not
synced to video if I copy the audio, but it does seem fine if I
transcode it as mp3lame

[Bug 577919] Re: chromium-browser fails to start (guest account, OpenVZ): "Failed to move to new PID namespace: Operation not permitted"

2013-06-11 Thread Jay Morgan
Trying to use Ubuntu as a Kiosk platform. 13.04 doesn't work because
the video is borked on our netbooks without nomodeset, which destroys
the performance. I'd use 12.04 LTS, but Firefox doesn't work as guest
on any version of ubuntu because it doesn't support proxy env vars. And
on the LTS version... THIS? Is there a single version of Ubuntu that
doesn't have a major show-stopping bug? Particularly with the ability
to browse the internet? How can this be such a "low" priority when
internet browsing is pretty much the whole point of the guest account?
In this day, what function of the computer is more important than the
internet browser? I don't want to admit that Windows ThinPC is a better
kiosk platform than Ubuntu. But right now it is the only thing we can
get working, and it is easy-peasy, where-as I've wasted close to two
weeks trying to build a viable Ubuntu option, seemingly a simple task,
due to all of these bugs...
