I have similar behavior as #6 (latest version as of today). I can see the cursor, clicking here and there turns the cursor into the round "loading"-cursor etc, but otherwise black. Seem to have the same problem with Centrino 1030N. Previously on 12.04, disabling N worked. Then somewhere along the line the network became bad again.
